Many memorable extended group memes have been the result of unintentionally entertaining misheard words and phrases. This occurs during a usually benign conversation when some party involved will fail to completely understand something that was just said, and attempts to repeat the phrase based on those sound fragments heard.

Such examples include:

  • "Splecto"
  • "Excellish" -- A hypothetical language taught at UW.
  • "Balvadier"
  • "Soccer Brett"
  • "Dragon rights"
  • "Bramberry Moose" -- Misheard by a vodka-heavy Brett when Terry asked him if he wanted more "cranberry juice."
  • "Uppercuts" -- While laying on Brett's roof in 2003, Brett turned to Asher and asked him "do you know what would make this night even better?" to which he quickly answered "leprechauns." An incredulous Asher, mishearing him, issued his now famous retort, "uppercuts!?"
