The CCCP Shirt refers to a t-shirt worn by Brett from 2002 to the present (although usage has declined sharply since Senior Year of High School). It is a standard cotton short-sleeve shirt, all red except for a white horizontal stripe running the length of the collar from sleeve to sleeve, and bold white lettering that reads "CCCP."

The shirt was purchased during a Hilyer family vacation to Scandinavia. Brett briefly visited St. Petersberg, Russia, where he purchased the said t-shirt for a sum of 50 rubles (less than $5 American at the time). Hence, the shirt is a bona fide article of Russian clothing, and not, as some have suggested, simply purchased at Hot Topic (in fact, this CCCP shirt predates the rise of that fad as an addendum to the Che Guevara t-shirts).

"CCCP" is the Cyrillic spelling for "USSR." Having no direct affiliation with communism or the former Soviet Union, the CCCP shirt is considered by some to be an example of Brett being ironic.

Trivia

  • When Mr. Harshman first encountered Brett wearing the shirt in the hallway, he was said to have exclaimed, "Hey, I remember the old CCCP!"
  • The CCCP shirt is still the most common identifier for Brett in The Drawing Game, despite the infrequency with which is it worn currently
