Senior Lifetime Sports was a slacker PE class which many group members signed up for in the fall of 2002. Group members involved included Terry, Gavin, Jeremy, Jason, Lukas, Brett, Lillian, and Jamie. The class was taught by Mrs. Gorman and Mrs. Faidley The class focused on sports-activities which were not too strenuous nor team-oriented that they could not be enjoyed throughout life. These included ice-skating, roller skating, biking, swimming, raquetball, softball, ultimate frisbee, whirly-ball, and towards the end, several weeks of bowling. The class was widely regarded as a lot of fun to all those involved, or at the very least, an excellent way to get PE credit, and at only $55, it was also considered a bargain.

Highlights

(these events were not necessarily the most enjoyable, but are certainly the most noteworthy)

  • Troy's
  • Ballroom dancing was taught in the class periods preceeding the homecoming dance in October. In addition to ballroom dancing inherently being of little interest to most group members, the historically girl-shy group members were also required to dance with members of the opposite sex. This lead to several awkward introductions and some perhaps even more awkward dances. Some notable pairings were Lukas& Tara Ashleman, Lukas& Heather Hooper, Gavin& Brenna Bonn, Terry& Holly Watanabe, and perhaps most hilariously Jackelin Tran and Yangchen Chagzoetzang. These pairings were the product both of guys asking girls and girls asking guys to dance. It was generally a relief when students were allowed to stop swaying to bad country songs.
  • After being strictly warned not to cause trouble on the roadways to and from events, a sort of friendly rivalry broke out between Gavins car and Klaudina Pasko's car. Lukas, Jeremy, and John Teske would throw small items such as pretzels or apple slices at the car containing Klaudina and Lillian. It was even organized so that the two cars would leave Shorewood simultaneously to facilitate the throwing of food. One day during bowling however, Mrs. Faidley sternly sat down Gavin, John, Jeremy, and Lukas and told them someone had tipped her off as to the food being thrown between cars and that the penalty for that was being removed from the class. After scaring them half to death, she said that it was only a warning, but if it ever happened again, they would be removed from the class.
  • During softball out on the field, Lukas once hit a sharp line drive straight at Carol Webber who was pitching, striking her directly in the thigh. Lukas tried to contain his amusement even though she was hopping around half laughing, half complaining about the pain.
