Utin Jääkärirykmentti

From The D Archives

Utin Jääkärirykmentti (UTJR) is the primary site for the training of Special, paratrooper operations-qualified Jaegers and also helicopter crew and personnel for army (land forces) aviation. Utin Jääkärirykmentti (Utti Jaeger Regiment) is located in Utti.

The army's so-called special operations capable troops, the Special Jaegers, receive their training mainly in the Paratrooper School located within the regiment. The support company (tukikomppania) handles the normal logistical day-to-day tasks within the regiment, and thus does not partake in the rigorous training of the paratroopers nor the demanding training of the helicopter crews.

About 200 concsripts serve in the Utti Jaeger Regiment every year.

The following units form the operative elements of the regiment:

Helikopteripataljoona (Helicopter Battalion)
Erikoisjääkäripataljoona (Special Jaeger Battalion)
Tukikomppania (Support Company)
Huoltokeskus (Logistics Center)
