Close Combat: Invasion Normandy
From The D Archives
This one is the fourth part of the Close Combat series of games. It pretty much revisits the location of the first part, which is Normandy during WWII. The game attempts to build up a fine atmosphere, but the designers have completely forgotten that it wasn't just the americans fighting at that mission. The game basically just pits the evil German Nazis against the good old american boys with no British or Canadians forces in sight. This one is just too much like the first part - which I also didn't even like. The entire bloody slugfest at the landing beaches was also quite timid in this one.
As a bizarre twist this game has also been published by Mattel Interactive. Now, Mattel is a toy company originating from the US, and upon this discovery, the general shittyness of this game really starts to receive an explanation.
Don't buy this one if you ever run across it. The gameplay with the same damn maps for the 5th time are boring, the historical accuracy leaves much to be desired - and some shitty company manufacturing Barbie-dolls has put its greedy hands on it.
