Kultainen Nousukas
From The D Archives
A Finnish novel by Arto Paasilinna. The story centers a young man, who becomes a self-made business man in the 1950's and 1960's Northern Finland. The books follows his exploits along with having a "rise and fall"-kind of a backstory to it.
Overall, I would say that this was a decent enough of a book. Paasilinna could've used a little bit more of his famous imagination in the storytelling and come up with something immensily funny and smooth at the same time. Also, there was a rather revolting scene in the book, in which the young man has sex with a fat fishseller woman in the back of a Jeep, and that is in no way a funny scene to be thought about, but instead it sucks badly.. And makes your fucking skin crawl.
