Batman, a superhero through the ages, started his crime-fighting career in the early 1960's. Oh yeah, and the character was invented by Bob Kane. Batman's real name is Bruce Wayne, who's one of the richest people of Gotham City. Batman is also known for his famous sidekick, Robin (Anglo-Saxon world) and/or Ryydman (Finland).

Anyways, when Batman started out in the 60's, he was a fairly laid-back dude who attended social gatherings and flaunted himself in the various groovy and psychedelic bars of the era. At that time he also invented the Batusi, a dance influenced by.. Umm.. Bats, I guess. Also, Batman's villains in the 60's were more megalomanical than outright psychotic.

Things pretty much went the same way all through the 1970's and up to 1989, when Batman became somewhat darker in tone and battled a much more charismatic version of the Joker. A year later he fought the Penguin and the Catwoman, also in similar dark and dreary settings. After that he was issued a suit that showed his nipples in great detail, and at that point he also fought Two-Face.

A few years after that he engaged Mr. Freezer (sp?) and Poison Ivy - and then in a prequel he fought a guy with a funny arab name, which also meant something really scary in the local tongue.
