Mr. FrÃ�Â¤nti and Mr. Vahanen, a Finnish duo of tourists were taken hostage by a group of Guerillas in the year 2000. The kidnapping and subsequent imprisonement of the pair took place in the highly volatile region of the Philippines known as the [[Jolo Island]]s. The two men were held hostage in the small Guerilla camp located on the island for over four months, after which they were released among a small group of other international hostages held by the same Guerrillas.

After the two were freed, they made a book about their time being held hostage by the Guerillas. Their return to Finland was also a celebrated event back in 2000.
