Some Feedback from the Examiner ...
In attempting to wrap up Friday's quiz before daybreak descended I may have scrimped on some detail (e.g. what was the music round connection?) In the sober light of day I was able to review some of the answers & amend scores. Although the overall positions weren't altered I have attached the original 'final scoreboard' & confirm the slightly re-adjusted scores:
- 1st: Slumdog Ditton 139pts
- 2nd: Flirty Love 132pts
- 3rd: Chairbreakers 131.5pts
- 4th: Hudson Bathers 126pts
- 5th: Bar Stewards 113pts
- 6th: Ditton Tigers 111pts
- 7th: Double Fault 109pts
- 8th: Claygate Crashers 105
- 9th: Harvesters 96.5pts
Plus, some of the answers submitted I think warrant a mention:
Round 1. Current affairs
- Q. Who is to become the new Dr. Who?
- A. Barack Obama (Claygate Crashers)
- Q. Who is the new presenter of Countdown?
- A. Boring guy in suit (Chairbreakers)
Round 2. General Knowledge
- Q. What were Eugene Cernan & Harrison Smitt the last men to do?
- A. Shop at Woolworths (Flirty Love)
- Q. Name Popeye's nemesis
- A. Pluto (Ditton Tigers)
Round 4. Sport
- Q. What was unusual about last year's 3rd round match between Hewitt & Baghdatis in the Australian Open?
- A. Bagdatis went off for a kleftiko (Bar Stewards)
- Q. What did Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt say was his pre-race speed enhancing food?
- A. Baked beans (Claygate Crashers)
Round 5. 2008 & All That
- Q. PL quotes Steve McClaren, impersonating affected Dutch accent, with signature Wally with a Brolly as a prop
- A. Sean Connery (Claygate Crashers)
Final Remarks
Bar Stewards thought Leona Lewis was Dire Straits & that Dr. Neil Fox was Elvis Costello. In Family Fortunes, one team thought that what men do more than women was 'bullsh*t'.
Finally, Flirty Love's suggestion for the '350,000' question/answer was indeed inspired but a little contensious for public consumption....
Thanks
