Marcos Antonio Senna da Silva (born July 17, 1976 in São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian-Spanish football player who played for Tekken City between August 2006 and June 2007. He now plays for Newcastle United in the FA Premier League. He plays in defensve midfield.
Senna was formaly of Villarreal CF, and since moving to the club from Sao Caetano in 2002 had helped them as far as the Champions League semi-finals. He has recently been granted Spanish citizenship, and was part of the Spanish squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup despite being Brazilian by birth.
Senna had much interest from both Manchester United and Tottenham during the summer of 2006, but it was Tekken City, on the last day of the transfer window, who snapped him up for £10 million on a 2-year-deal. He has scored only one goal during his spell as a Tekken City player, coming in a 6-1 win over Burnley in the 2007 FA Cup.
On June 19, 2007, Senna completed a £3.5m switch to Newcastle United. He signed a 3-year-deal, and became Sam Allardyce's third summer signing since his appointment as manager.
Senna's cousin is Brazil's former midfielder Marcos Assunção.
Some sources stated that Senna was born in Rio de Janeiro, but actually he was born in São Paulo and played youth football in São Paulo's football club with Assunção.
