Oscar Karlström
From Tekken City
Oscar Karlström (born August 24, 1982 in Järfälla) is a left-footed Swedish midfielder playing for the Swedish national team and Tekken City. He is an attacking midfielder as a natural position, but he can play anywhere in midfield. He used to play regularly both for Djurgården and the Swedish squad as a left-winger. He was a regular trainee for the Chelsea under 15 squad before returning to Sweden with Djurgårdens IF.
Early Years
Karlström's first squad as a youngster was his much supported club Djurgårdens IF where he developed as a young trainee at the age of 13. He was part of a very well-organised under-14 side managed by Erik Wahlqvist. However, he moved to Chelsea as a youth player in 2006 at the age of 15 in order to increase his abilities with a big club. He made a hude improvement in his abilities but wasnät good enough to make the senior squad, and instead decided to move back to Djurgårdens IF.
Senior Career at Djurgården
In August 2007, Karlström was noted down as Djurgården's key player for the next season following some quite outstanding performances for the reserve squad after impressing at youth level. He played 21 matches, scoring 13 goals while he was just 17 years old.
International Career
Karlström was part of the Swedish National Football Squad which competed at the Euro 2008 finals and played in 2 of their group matches before they were eliminated. Against Greece in the first game, he was instrumental in attacking midfield, supplying for both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrik Larsson in attack. He also played in a 2-1 defeat against Spain where he was able to hit the post with a long-range effort.
