2.72 - Team Number 1
Group Meeting
April 3, 2007
- Short-term To-do List:
- Marcus --> Get the new dimensions from the updated Solidworks files for HTM analysis
- Ani & Martin --> elastic errors
- Will & Dan --> Talk to Dave & Pat about rake angles on aluminum
- Will & Dan --> Code (MATLAB or MathCAD) to take in cutting force and output bearing load and shaft stresses
- Meet Thursday after class to discuss progress!
- Long-term To-do List:
- Spindle Shaft design & bearing selection & consideration of collet
- Structure design & construction
- HTM's for elasticity
- Feasibility of Accuracy = 10 microns
- Straightness values for threaded lead screw
- Rail analysis & bushing selection
- Drive system
- Considerations (to keep in mind):
- Should use our HTM analysis, lead screw straightness, to evaluate feasibility
- Drive Train:
- If using gears or chains - must have a clutch
- Belts with a "Christmas Tree?" - belts allow slipping at a dangerous torque!
- Contingency (Direct Drive)
- Bearings for driver
- Will have to sit down with Prof. Culpepper & Chris to design the flecture
