When water from the sea splashes onto itself, it makes a lot of small white bubbles that looks like some moss. That is called scum.

You can also call some dishonest uncivilised punk or somebody you don't like "scum", because it is very insulting to give somebody the name of small white water bubbles.

Don't mix with [[SCUMM]] or [[cum]].
