Ball and Biscuit is a song by The White Stripes. It can be heard on their fourth album, Elephant.

Band Quotes

  • Jack White : "I love the imagery. A biscuit is such a cheap treat. I really hate that people in America are gonna think it means buttermilk biscuit and not cookie. I would never talk up a girl like that. My whole vision of the song was a girl passing by and me thinking these things...I do not really know what happened. We were about to record Ball and Biscuit, which was written in the studio. All was peaceful and calm when, suddenly, it was if the devil got into me and I could not hear anything except guitars. Fat, dirty, ear-destroying guitar sounds. It was as if some higher power said to me that now, Jack White, is the time to start playing guitar solos."

Facts

  • It is a heavy blues song based around one riff and several solos.
  • Clocking in at over seven minutes, Ball and Biscuit is the longest studio recording released by The White Stripes so far.
  • This song is well-known as a fan favorite; however, at live concerts, it is usually cut short or tagged onto other songs.

Lyrics

it's quite possible that I'm your third man girl
but it's a fact that I'm the seventh son
(no doubt about it)
it's quite possible that I'm your third man girl
but it's a fact that I'm the seventh son
and right now you could care less about me
but soon enough you will care, by the time I'm done
let's have a ball and a biscuit sugar
and take our sweet little time about it
let's have a ball girl
and take our sweet little time about it
tell everybody in the place to just get out
and we'll get clean together
and I'll find me a soapbox
where I can shout it

(yeah)
you'll read it in the newspaper
ask your girlfriends and see if they know
read it in the newspaper
ask your girlfriends and see if they know
that my strength is ten-fold girl
I'll let you see it if you want to before you go
let's have a ball and a biscuit sugar
and take our sweet little time about it
let's have a ball
and take our sweet little time about it
tell everybody in the place to just get out
we'll get clean together
and I'll find me a soapbox
where I can shout it
(yeah I can think of one or two things to say about it)
(alright listen)

(hear what I say, get the point now?)

it's quite possible that I'm your third man
but it's a fact that I'm the seventh son
it was the other two which made me your third
but it was my mother who made me the seventh son
and right now you could care less about me
but soon enough you will care by the time I'm done
(you just wait, stick around, you'll figure it out)
