Performers

  • Jack White: vocals
  • Meg White: I want to say she's using the kick drum and hi-hat, while hitting a tambourine. But I might be wrong. Usually, for live performances of this song, I believe she bangs her snare drum with the tambourine while hitting the hi-hat and thumping the kick drum. But who seriously gives a fuck.

Band Quotes

  • Jack White: "It's about how ... if you're a great painter and you're just painting in your room and all of a sudden someone sees it, then they're all, 'This is great! You're genius! Let's have a show.' So they have a show and everyone goes nuts. Then they're like, 'OK, let's have another show,' and now your inspiration isn't from where it used to be when no one knew about you. How do you keep your inspiration? If you actually are doing something good, how do you handle it?"

Trivia

  • This is the only White Stripes song that does not feature Jack playing an instrument.
  • Arguably Jack's worst vocals to date.

Lyrics

Well, you're in your little room, and you're working on something good, but if it's really good, you're gonna need a bigger room. And when you're in the bigger room, you might not know what to do. You might have to think of how you got started sitting in your little room.
