In the fall of 2002, the Sophomore Class Student Council, comprising of Alex Miyawaki, Jessica Demorest, Mackenzie Smith, and the ever-so unappreciated Joey Kelly had an idea. The idea was to make money for their class, by having a concert at lunch once a month, and selling hot dogs and hamburgers in order to make money to buy more hot dogs and hamburgers. Johnny Marmelstein, class of 2005's dean, being the capitalist he was, thought it was a brilliant idea. The ironic thing, which was brought up by the un-appreciated Joey Kelly, was that no one was going to eat lunch on the lawn, nor was the band even going to play on a lawn. So basically, the whole "lunch on the lawn" name was something to sound clever, even though it doesn't sound very clever at all. Some rising stars who played at the lunch on the lawn venue were; Mack Mower, Tyler Demorest, Paul Moore, and to the lesser respect, Ira Raibon, known by his students for the catchphrase "silly rabbit", and his stories of the glory days of when he toured with Earth, Wind, and Fire.
