Science Concept:Heating and cooling causes changes in the properties of water.
Observations of evaporation, condensation, and melting using a tea kettle and a bowl filled with ice...
Students add ice cubes to a bowl before holding it above the steaming kettle.
Students watch steam from water boiling in the kettle.
Students observe ice cubes melting in the bowl.
Students watch condensation beneath the bowl.
Making mini water cycle models...
A student fills canister to the halfway mark with water.
Students tape the clear film canister inside a plastic zip lock bag.
Student checks progress of mini water cycle model that has been in the window for a few days. Is there condensation on the sides of the bag? Has the water level in the film container changed? Did any of the water "rain" down to the bottom of the bag?
