There are seven branches of skills that characters in Silk Road Online may use to enchance their abilities. There are three weapon branches (Bicheon, Heuksal, and Pacheon) and four magic branches (Cold, Fire, Lightning, and Force). Within each branch there are books of abilities that may be learned. Prerequisites for each level of ability differ withing each skill branch.

In order to increase a skill's level, the player must devote skill points in order to learn or enhance a particular skill branch or ability.
