History of Sprite Wars
From Sprite Wars
Forward by Commander Evil
Commander Evil here, using input from various sources, I've decided to write a basic, bare-bones, non-biased history of the first spritewar. From the first comic back in 2004, to the corvolt, to the execution of the heroes of mobius, the entire thing has evolved to an organism of its own, although its roots were based off many ideas. It's been one helluva time, and through all the bloodshed, violence, and general mayhem, it seems that one thing has stood above all else; one single factor has made this the great game that it is: Imagination. Through all the snowmen and mobians and aliens, and everything else, its a wonder we haven't been granted the rights to a movie! (lol copyright)
Well i guess I'll shuddup now and write the actual history, but before I go, heres some words from the founder of SW...
Talking with Storm
Commander Evil says: tell me, when did the idea strike you?
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: On the metal slug database
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: frankly, we all had it coming
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: Everyone was making sprites of specialized soldiers and private armies
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: I thought "You know, It woudl be awesome if people took these armies and fought with them"
Commander Evil says:
how long has SW been going?
Commander Evil says: like, how many years has it been going?
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: wow, since 2004, I believe
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: It was my first year at college
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: I Remember between classes, I would go and see how the war was doing at the Database
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: It caught on like wildfire. And that first Sprite Wars season is what I consider the purest form of the Sprite Wars. We were all experimenting in the game, and you had a lot of crazy armies
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: Aliens, Snowmen, Sonic Characters, Human armies, everything
Commander Evil says:
do you have any regrets?
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: Not really. At the time, we were making up the rules as we went along. WMDs were popular, Troop spam was a problem, but it was one of the few times where Humor and the Rampancy of the Sprite Wars made for an interesting mix
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: before long from the randomness of the game, it evolved into factions, and we made our decisions on who was good and who was evil
Commander Evil says:
what, in your opinion, has made the spritewars such a great passtime, and generally awesome?
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: oh, so many things
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: the people, the rivalries, the alliances. All the custom sprites that people make to try and get that little extra edge in the conflict
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: And the humor
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: A sense of humor plays a good part in the sprite wars.
Commander Evil says:
alright, one more question
Commander Evil says: what advice do you have to give to anyone reading this article, what advice to the new and old members alike?
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: Well, for one, War is war, but the story sells it. Yeah, you're going to spend a lot of time fighting, but it's good to make us care for the characters. Or hate them with a burning passion.
Storm the Fox: Delicious Croissants says: Also, to all the evil guys out there, Being evil is fun, but if taken too far, it's more annoying than menacing. Be methodical and pondering. Don't just do the generic bad thing for the sake of doing bad things. Have a method to your madness
