Bivalve is an island within the Sprite wars universe, and was the main location of the Western Campaign season 2, run by Kalash

[edit] History of Bivalve

MDCCCI - An island, large in size, and rumoured about for many years by sea captains, is finally set foot on and ventured across, the first rough maps appear, and the island is named Bivalve due to the amount of mollusks found along the beaches...

image:Old_bivalve_map.png

MDCCCX- The first community is founded, Just north of present day Aimwell, not much more is known due to all island records being destroyed in MCMLXII, during the capital fire.

MDCCCXXXIV- By this point in time, most (current) cities and towns on Bivalve have sprung up and are well on their way to a having their own government.

MDCCCXL- Bivalve has a single party government set up, and a capital is made out of the town in the center of the island, Centralia.

MDCCCL- The railroad industry is brought to the island, it becomes a rival industry to the usual fishing industry that’s always been practiced here. Rail lines are laid around the island.

MDCCCLXX- Bivalve's population thrives as the major seaport in Ransom is upgraded to accommodate more ships.

MDCCCLXXX- By now Bivalve has seen its share of visitors, and little does it know that within the next 30 years, it'll be booming like never before.

MCMXXVIII- Bivalve has it's first paved roads, and automobiles are becoming VERY popular.

MCMXXXVIII- By now, Bivalves first ferry station has been built in Fairview, and has been running back and forth from the mainland (which is a very long distance away) the ferries are retired ocean lines donated from the United States of Dukes. One of which can be seen off of Venice Beach to the south of Fairview, run aground on underwater rocks, only the stern is visible anymore.

MCMXL to MCML- Bivalve is very prosperous in this time, and by now, a very popular summer vacation spot for off-islanders. Sea Breeze is the main attraction here, boasting white beaches and beautiful scenery, as well as a hopping nightlife! This is the last true period of good times.

MCMLVI- A terrible year on Bivalve, seeds of an anti-government group have begun to sprout, with many small attacks on political figures and high ranking military men, as well as BDF troops are on the rise. and an anti-government group has been formed.

image:Political_hit1.png

MCMLXII- Lined with mine shafts and tunnels, and being the island's secondary source of income, Centralia is set ablaze from below, and the great capital fire roars through the capital, ruining buildings, cracking the streets, and throwing the country into civil war over the belief that the fire in the mine was a deliberate attack by the Free Peoples Revolutionary Group. The idea of the FPRG attacking the capital by igniting the very flammable gases in the mine, gave reason for the ADF to attack the FPRG, thus starting the war.

MCMLXXVIII- Most of Bivalve has been ravaged by war, and a number of factions have formed, nearly all civilians have fled from the island, and all that remains are the 10 or so factions battling it out around the island. All links to other civilization are for the most part, severed.

MCMLXXXIII- This is where the history gets foggy, not much is known about the island after this point, when the remains of the BDF's forces radio transmissions are intercepted by a USD Surveillance plane on it's way back from an international waters sweep. The transmission said something along the lines of the fighting has stopped, something was "found", and there are mass casualties, with many sick or dieing, its now under control, but no one should proceed to set foot on the island. It appeared to be an SOS, but later review of the channel revelled that the frequency was not on an international channel, nor was it being broadcast over a large area, which lead the USD officials to believe it was chatter within the confines of the country. After this grim broadcast was picked, nothing more was herd from anyone.

MCMXC- This is when the first reports of a mysterious plane began to be reported to the Shore Patrol, the aircraft appeared to be observed heading towards the island, flying over it, dropping something that falls to the island via parachute, then returning south west towards the east coast of the United States of Dukes. Not much more is known about what the current situation is on the island, or about the unknown aircraft.

Present Day- Bivalve sits abandoned, decaying in its own little dimension, stuck in time as it was when the shit hit the fan. Almost all buildings are left was they were in the art deco era of the island. A building hasn't been constructed since the late era of MCMXL.

Recently a signal has been detected by many different countries on super sensitive sound/radio frequency monitoring equipment, the exact location can not be pin-pointed but it is known that it may be coming from Bivalve because it's the only land mass for hundreds of miles. Rumours have spread that the signal has something to do with the "something found" mentioned the last time anyone on the island was herd from.

Welcome to Bivalve Island

Bivalve (Island)-A moderately sized island located in the Middle Ocean, far from any mainland, peppered with little travelled highways and rail lines, run-down seaside towns, and the long forgotten, now-forsaken, once great structures of the past century rotting away. Bivalve is a very mysterious place, most areas covered in marshland or thick forest its very easy to get lost, its as if, the whole island is something stuck in time. Many of the roads are either dirt, or crumbling asphalt, and it's normally very foggy or misty in Bivalve, but on the very rare days the sun does shine, are the days you can really see the decay. It rains alot in Bivalve, sometimes making it hard to travel by vehicle, and giving the island its trademark mist storms that sweep across the island for days at a time.

Notable Locations-Shellpile, Sea Breeze, Valhalla, Silent Meadow, Centralia, Aimwell, Bootlegger Crossing, Berlin Junction, Steam Corner, Garlock, Ransom, Glendale, Ludlow, Kill Devil Hills, Fairview, Broken Hills, Ozada Trails.

Sea Breeze- a small relic of the past, now a shadow of what it once was. Surrounded by endless marshland on the north side of Bivalve, Sea Breeze lay partially in ruins, and mostly uninhabited. In it's day Sea Breeze had three large piers, two shipping, one entertainment. The latter housed a penny arcade, a restaurant, an old time saloon, and a bowling alley. Among the other locations around Sea Breeze were the Automat, a movie theatre, and a moderately sized hotel. In the late 50's Sea Breeze was engulfed in flames and much of the city was damaged or destroyed. The once thriving beaches are now littered with stray ships, barges, and debris washed ashore from many storms past. Sea Breeze and Shellpile alike have a very unsettling and creepy atmosphere, as do most places, well, all places in Bivalve.

Shellpile- Once again a relic of the past, this small inlet just south of Sea Breeze was at one time the islands main source of income because this is where the country's main supply of oysters would come from. This is where the town gets its name from, the once towering piles of oyster shells that littered the land. The houses that remain are wood and sheet metal shanties that have been nearly preserved and destroyed by their construction-they were mostly all built on stilts, and they were mostly all built of cheap materials.

Valhalla- Very misty and dark Valhalla is one of the less noticed placed in Bivalve. At one time a trolley factory, this site lays just off the main run of track that remains in Bivalve and the Bivalve Water Gap. At one time this site was it's own self sustaining city, workers lived on site and worked in the massive (and now rusting) "assembly house" which was actually an enormous structure that rivalled most airplane hangers of the time, the metal would go it, and the trolleys would come out. Most of the outside of the assembly house is still intact, the inside is gutted and the massive doors have long been salvaged for other needs. The majority of the outlaying structures (the offices, the housing, the shops, etc...) are now all but frames and foundations of concrete and steel, taken back by the earth. Mostly old, rusted rails remain, you can follow the outlines of the streets if you look close.

Silent Meadow- A vast, open field surrounded by thick pine forest on all side, located near the center of the Island. It is rumoured that under these fields are miles of mining tunnel that are now sealed off. See nearby Centralia.

Centralia- Centralia is a place no one dares to walk the forsaken ground anymore. As the name implies, Centralia is close to (if not) the center of Bivalve. Once a lively little coal town, the mines under the immediate area supplied little Centralia with the needed income. On a cold day in 1962 MCMLXII a horrible accident set the town's underground ablaze, thus resulting in the abandonment of the town, and the end of poor Centralia. Centralia was cut-off from all roads and highways entering it (or the immediate area) and closed shortly after due to the uncontrollable fire and dangerous gases seeping from the ground. The underground fire has been burning for years and what’s left of Centralia is smouldering piles of dirt and debris, in some areas large alien like tubes seem to grow from the tattered ground, seemingly feeding air to the burning beast below. These are actually vents that almost constantly puff smoke and grasses from the unseen maze of mining tunnels. (Note: when Bivalve was an independent country, Centralia was the capital, and was located in sector 5)

Aimwell- Aimwell, named after it's founder, Lucas Mortin Aimwell, This small community is one of the few places that still has residents, although very few. Aimwell is pretty much cut off from the marshlands being on the south east side of the island, the area around Aimwell is all pine barons, as is most of the east and south.

Bootlegger Crossing- Bootlegger Crossing is where, during the times of pirates, and again during a period of prohibition, bootleggers would meet to trade, rest, or sometimes, stash their knock-off booze when needed, but mostly it was a pass through to get from west coast to east coast, or north to south, or vice versa. Bootlegger Crossing is quite small, consisting of three barely standing buildings, which were once two homes, and a hotel and saloon. Bootlegger crossing is surrounded by thick marshland, most marsh in the area is about 5 to 6 feet in length, as is around most of the island. Bootlegger Crossing is literally two roads that cross in a four way intersection, these are dirt roads, some sections were paved, but have since returned to the land.

Berlin Junction- A small, run down train station, where at one time, there was a shanty town on the northside of the tracks, now all that remains is the sturdy concrete and brick building that was the train station, and of course, the tracks. Berlin Junction is located near the center of Kill Devil Hills.

Steam Corner- Once the end of the line for all of Bivalve's train lines, now this massive train yard sits on the coast over looking the ocean, empty. Located in the northeast corner of Bivalve. Steam Corner is located next to

Garlock- The town which is now a rotting tribute to the emptiness here. In its time the houses lined the tracks, not many cars travelled here, because there were simply no streets, everyone took a trolley or walked. The town was actually built within the confines of the train yard. After the railroad industry died out, so did this town, as did much of the island.

Ransom- Ransom was by far the most populated (year round) city on Bivalve. Located in the center of the East coast of Bivalve, this was the sea port hub of the island. It's located right on the water, and has numerous places to dock ships and such. Ransom is still populated, but far less then it's past days. The once busy and bright water front is now in a stated of disrepair, residents are spread far and wide across the city, some living in groups here and there. Ransom once had a large furry population, and its said that many still reside here today.

Glendale- Glendale is a small town out in the pine barons. It's just south east of Centralia, this is the only place that is still considered an actual populated place. People live here, and are dropped supplies every few weeks by an airplane. They have a running power plant, a water purification plant, and a hospital. Don’t be fooled by all this though, Glendale is extremely small.

Ludlow- Ludlow is a shady place in the marshlands on the west side of Bivalve. Formerly the home of the islands Sanitarium, now its just another run down little bleak dot on the map. When Bivalve began to crumble, this is where the rebellion was led from.

Kill Devil Hills- Kill Devil Hills are the large area surrounding Silent Meadow and where the marshlands meet the forest. Kill Devil Hills is mainly grassland, with small amounts of trees scattered throughout. The east side of Kill Devil Hills is bordered by a thick line of trees before going into the large fields of Silent Meadow. Kill Devil Hills gets its name from what took place here is the early 20th century. It was said that a "devil like" creature was seen roaming the hillsides here, soon after the reports of this were made public, a search party was put together and over the course of two weeks a creature of unknown origin was caught and slaughtered, there are unconfirmed reports that it had horns and was red in colour, other reports confirm it was some sort of livestock with a birth defect, to this day it is not known, yet this area still retains its mysterious persona, various abandonment’s are scattered around the hills, such as cabins, abandon cars, and the ruins of a 15th century church. Prior to the "Devil Hunt" this area was known as Ozada Hills.

Fairview- An old, Coastal town which was, you guessed it, built around the railroad here on Bivalve. Fairview is slowing being slowly retaken by mother earth. Fairview is the closest town to Valhalla, but when Valhalla opened, Fairview became nothing more then Ferry station surrounded by a town slowly dieing.

Broken Hills- Broken Hills is the area to the north east of Centralia , it's called Broken Hills because many of the hills have caves and such hidden in the sides.

Ozada Trails- These are a series of very old dirt roads, many leading to dead ends, snaking through the southern half, and far north area of the Kill Devil Hills. It's VERY easy to get lost here.

Stedmont island- Located off the north shore, its a tiny piece of what used to be a bigger island, its covered in trees, and there is one known abandon house close to the center of the island. Actually, no one knows if its really abandon, at times you can see lights coming from the island.

Kzar's island- A small island located off the south shore, covered in thick marsh and over growth, there is a huge abandon fish factory here. It's big, concrete, and is overlooked by Valhalla. This island is almost non-accessible from water due to all the debris in the water here, as well as the fact that the only bridge collapsed nearly twelve years ago.

Lighthouse Point- Northwest point of Bivalve, this is where there is the lighthouse, it doesn’t function anymore, and it hasn't, be weary, there are many a shipwreck along the north and west shores, hidden by the surf.

Badwater- A small town on the northern shore, once again, now uninhabited.

Tabernathy- A south shore fishing town with a dark history, lowest point of the whole island, information or contact has not come out of Tabernathy for sometime now.

Point Pleasant- Just south of Lighthouse point, this town has seen more then it's share of the strange and sometimes, paranormal. The town is now abandoned and was once the home of a munitions plant.

Broker’s beach- Yet another of the few places people still live, although very, very few. This town contains the Sector Medical Facility. Which is really no more then a small 2 story building.

[edit] Possible return

There has been rumours that Bivalve may be making a return in the Grand campaing.
