Formation of the United Earth Alliance
In 2056, the earth was again at war. The world fell into chaos and anarchy as civilizations collapsed. It was though the world was soon to end. Yet from the ashes of the Third World War, the Earth emerged unified. The remains of the United Nations and its military peacekeeping force NATO rallied, and within a span of twelve years unified the shattered world. Mankind was given a second chance, and was given form in the United Earth Alliance in 2068.
The one world government eliminated the bickering between nations, though it took many years following its formation to convince most of the world that this was for the best. It was still democratic of course, the President was voted in, rather than a dictator assuming power. Separated by continents, and with the inclusion of a formal World Senate, the people were given a voice, and this paved the way for a new golden age.
Return to Space
The UEA spent fifty years rebuilding the earth. Cities that were ground to dust in world War III were now rebuilt to their former glory. The once proud UN headquarters in New York was now rebuilt, and New York became the world’s capital. Science and technology soon advanced at a rapid pace, and the world seemed to prosper. However, the earth wished to expand further. The UEA felt that it was invincible, and decided they were ready to take to the stars.
The Moon and Mars seemed like prime choices for humanity to spread further. Scientists have developed bio-domes that could hold small cities. New developments in terraforming were made, and scientists predicted that with time and effort, they believed it possible for Mars to become the next Earth. Though travel to the moon could be made within days, a trip to Mars would take months! It would take decades, maybe centuries to make the Moon and Mars suitable for life. The solution was then soon made.
Advances in physics soon led to the development of the hyperdrive in 2114. Though in its earliest form required massive amounts of energy, spaceships were now able to traverse vast distances of space in mere hours. First they tested it on a trip to the Moon, then to mars, and then across to Pluto. Mankind was now ready to claim the Solar System for itself.
Colony ships were made, and within them, eager pioneers ready to stake their claim on new worlds. Though initially difficult, full of great losses, humanity gained a foothold on the Moon and Mars. In the meantime, humanity also began constructing massive space colonies. Though incredible in terms of the raw resources needed to construct them, these massive behemoth stations held hundreds of thousands of people, alleviating the growing population problems on Earth.
Alien Contact
The UEA and its astronomy division scanned the galaxy with powerful orbital telescopes, looking for suitable planets for further colonization. They found one. A planet in a distant star system looked to have an environment like Earth’s. Thousands of volunteers were gathered, with the promise of a new world without the hardships of terraforming and recycled air appealed to many, and soon a massive colony ship was made to send a eager population to this new world. In 2123 the massive ship left Earth with much fanfare, and hope of success.
Fifteen years have passed, and there was no communication from the colony ship…
There was much speculation on what happened to it. Did the hyperdrive fail? Was the environment too hostile? Did they overshoot the planet? Expeditions were planned to see what has happened, but the UEA forbade any further exploration of the planet until contact with the colony ship was reestablished. Another two years have passed, and the UEA finally learned what happened in 2140. The massive colony ship returned, but with new occupants…
The Mobian Wars
They called themselves Mobians. There was no one species like humanity, but there were many, and were all quite literally evolved versions of the many animals on Earth. They came bearing what has happened to the human colonists, and of their homeworld, Mobius. Their leader, Princess Sally Acorn, asked for asylum, as she and the ship’s occupants were refugees
The human colonists arrived on Mobius and quickly made themselves at home. Upon encountering the Mobians, the eager colonists jumped to rid the planet of its peaceful inhabitants. This led to what the Mobians called the Great War against the humans. The Mobians prevailed, surprisingly. Though their victory was short-lived, and soon the Mobian species fell under a human traitor, named Dr. Ivo Robotnik. For over ten years he ruled over much of the planet with an iron fist. The Human population slowly bade their time, silently rebuilding their military to be ready against both the Mobians and Robotnik. However, that chance never came. A Mobian named Sonic, a hedgehog with the gift of super speed, and other metaphysical powers, along with Sally Acorn herself, led a revolution against Robotnik, and soon disposed him.
The Mobians rebuilt their kingdom, though keeping a watchful eye on the humans. The Acorn family, now the rulers of the planet, believed that coexistence with humans was still possible. The Acorns opened dialogues with the humans, and the initial results were positive. Coexistence seemed like a possibility, but wasn’t to be. The world soon fell to further war by another alien species called the Black Arms. The Black Arms destroyed much of the human and Mobian settlements, and defeat seemed certain, even with the power of Sonic and his companions. It took another hedgehog named Shadow, a friend of Sonic and created by the humans to be the Ultimate Lifeform, to defeat the Black Arms. The Acorns then again tried to reestablish relations with the humans, but peace again was short lived. The chance never came, as the Mobians soon fell under a second coup d’etat.
Shadow, discovering plans by the humans to take over Mobius once and for all, was convinced that humanity was out to get them, and despite protest to the pacifistic Acorns, they turned Shadow quickly away. Shadow knew that another war was to come, but it would be Mobius’ last if he didn’t do something to stop it once and for all. Gathering conspirators loyal to him and acquiring the cloning technology used on him previously, Shadow grew an army of clones bearing his likeness. Using weapons acquired from the years of war, Shadow violently took control of the Mobian capital of Mobotropolis and instigated the war against the humans. The Acorn family was disposed of, and the reigning King Maximilian and her brother Elias were killed by Shadow himself. Proclaiming himself Emperor of Mobius, Shadow then ordered that the rest of the ruling family and members of the former Freedom Fighters be found and executed.
Princess Sally and Sonic the Hedgehog found the old colony ship that brought the humans to the planet during their exile, and inside it, the coordinates for Earth. Believing that Mobians and Humans can coexist, Sally and Sonic hatched a desperate plan: evacuate as many Mobians as they could and flee to Earth. Under the cover a major battle against the humans and the new Mobian Empire, Sally gathered several thousand of those still loyal to her, and fled the planet. Their last transmission by loyal agents still on Mobius was that Shadow had succeeded in defeating the human forces, and were moving in on their capital…
After hearing the plight of the refugee Mobians, the UEA granted them asylum and full citizenship to the UEA in apology for the hostilities commenced by the zealous human colonists. While accepted initially across much of the planet, it took some time for humanity to adjust to the new arrivals. Bigotry and open violence commenced across the planet by human fundamentalist groups, with wild claims of Mobians as hostile alien invaders that wished to take revenge. Some blamed them for the deaths of the human colonists to Mobius. Many Mobians were killed by hate crimes and terrorist acts, and including assassination attempts on the Acorn family and retainers. The UEA responded by ruthlessly putting down the violence and enforcing tolerance of Mobians. Another twelve years would pass before Mobians fully assimilated into Earth life and culture.
Lylatian Arrivals
Another alien species would arrive to Earth in 2160. The Lylatians were much like the Mobians. They were uncannily based off of Earth animals, but their evolution made them taller and more physically stronger than their Mobian counterparts. Lylatian delegates arrived with gestures of peace and cooperation, and trade between the two budding empires. The UEA graciously accepted the Lylatians offer, and strong relations were made between the two great civilizations (Mobians included, with Princess Sally speaking on their behalf).
The Lylatians had their share of war and strife, as their entire star system had been subjugated by a renegade Lylatian named Andross. It took a team of mercenaries, the Starfox team, led by ace pilot Fox McCloud to defeat Andross and his powerful military. Elements of Andross’ fleet are still engaging with the Lylatian military, the Cornerial Self Defense Forces to the present date. Eight years after Andross’ attempted coup, an alien species called the Aparoids attacked the Lylatian system, and it took the Starfox team again to save their system from destruction.
The Lylatians’ advanced technology soon helped out the progress of the terraforming of Mars and improvements to the existing Moon and space colonies, vastly improving the quality of life away from Earth. The Earth’s vast economy and sheer manpower helped with the financing and reconstruction of the Lylatian capital of Corneria and the many planets in the Lylaian system.
The Present
The golden age of the UEA and its allies is now drawing to a close. Independent militaries and rogue nations now threaten the UEA and their allies from within. The Mobian Empire, ruled by the Immortal Emperor Shadow, now looks to Earth, and sees humanity as a cancer to be removed. Other threats from beyond the Solar System view humanity in the same way. War is coming…
