Keil appears younger than he actually is, due mostly to his curse. His aging process is severely slowed for as long as he carries the curse, making him appear approximately twenty years old, even though he's nearly a decade older. His hair is best described as a dark copper in color, with bangs that fall to his eyebrows, and the rest which falls past his shoulders. He's fairly muscled, but still quite lean, though his full strength is far greater than his body would suggest, rivaling a professional football player or regular weight lifter. He stands at five foot ten inches, and has medium tan skin and dark blue eyes. Due to a short time in which he operated as a solo freelance Hunter, he has a number of scars about his body, and a small handful of tattoos he received to mark him as an honorary member of a werewolf pack he assisted.

While transformed into a wolf, he is mostly indistinguishable from a real wolf, except for a slightly larger size and a peppering of the same dark copper color of his hair in his coat. His eyes are the same dark blue he possesses as a human. He is not bipedal, like some breeds of werewolf, though his speed and strength are a mark above normal wolves and most other werewolves. As a wolf, though, his own mind is mostly pushed aside by the wolf's instincts, though some hint of his humanity remains in his ability to differentiate friend and foe, and the ability to take basic command and direction.
-
My beast form is covered in fur the same dark copper color of my hair. I'm mostly wolf in form, though I'm taller, longer, and stronger than a normal wolf, and I can move on my hind legs, though doing so usually just ends up as nothing more than a hassle. My wolf eyes are still the same color of blue as they are when I'm human, though. I'm about seven feet long when I'm in my wolf form. It's not too hard for me to carry a single person on my back, so long as they're small, and not too heavy.
+
Weaknesses: After shifting from wolf to human form, he usually requires some time to adapt to bipedal movement and a change in fighting tactics. He doesn't have full conscious control over his wolf form, so at most he is a mildly suggestible berserker. It's also suggested, though not proven, that part of his aggressive response to perceived threats is due to fragments of the wolf's personality and instincts filtering into his human side. If he goes too long without shifting from human to wolf, his curse will force him to transform, without regard for his surroundings. Also, a side effect of his curse leaves him weak to ghost and spirit possession, a weakness that Vivi takes frequent advantage of.
-
Weaknesses: I'm still sorta slow when I'm a normal human, and using two legs instead of four can become slightly awkward. I don't have conscious control of my wolf form, so I'm forced to rely solely on wolf instinct. It's easy for the wolf part of me to take over and do things I wouldn't normally do. I'm also pretty sure that a bit of the wolf personality has filtered into my human form.
+
Strengths: Even as a human, his senses are strengthened beyond a normal human's. His strength and speed are enhanced, though those benefits tend to vary, depending on the amount of energy left in his curse at the time. Also due to the curse, he appears to be more resistant to sickness. The unique nature of his curse allows him to change from wolf to human and vice-versa at any time, rather than only during full moons, though he can only shift as long as his curse holds enough energy to allow his transformation. It takes roughly twenty-eight days for his curse's energy reserve to change from depleted to full.
-
Strengths: I'm a werewolf, and thanks to that, my senses are a bit more sensitive than a normal human's. I seem to be a bit stronger, too, though it comes and goes depending on my curse. Thanks to the curse, I do seem to have a bit of a resistance to disease, and those heightened senses seem to filter very slightly into my normal human form.
+
Abilities: He is a decent fighter, focusing mostly on hand-to-hand combat, or, to be more correct, foot-to-hand combat, as he prefers kicks and leg blows. His main weapon, wolf-form aside, is a set of greaves he wears to protect himself and inflict extra damage with kicks. His senses, both as a wolf and human, are higher than a human's, and his strength and speed as a wolf allow him to make jumps many humans would fail at.

I can fight decently as a normal human, though. Oh yeah, and I turn into a FREAKING WOLF.

As a wolf, my strength and speed are both heightened dramatically. I can jump fences or walls that a normal human couldn't dream of jumping, but in some cases I don't even need to worry about jumping the fence because it's easier to just go through. My senses are incredible; I can smell, hear, and taste things you can't imagine, and my eyesight isn't too shabby, either. It's not surprising I could take out a second-rate Hunter like Whisper. The only reason he's the Hunter and I'm the Companion is because of his family.

At the age of twelve, his father, in wolf form, attacked Keil, Anabelle, and their babysitter. The babysitter was killed almost instantly, and Keil suffered only lacerations to his arm and chest, despite his attempts to protect his sister, who took the brunt of the attack, surviving a severe mauling. Despite the Institute's best attempts, he resisted a complete wipe of his memories of the attack, and so he was told that those memories were a nightmare after being in a terrible car accident.

Seven years later his father died, causing the bloodline curse that had formerly plagued him to move on to his son. Along with the curse, he was granted full knowledge of the curse's former victims, and it's purpose: to protect a silver medallion that contained the spirit of a dangerous demonic force; the unique curse left its' bearer immune to the effects of the demon mind inside the medallion, but weakened to other possessions. Knowing nothing of his mother's connections with the Institute, or her knowledge of her late husband's curse, he came into full knowledge of the connections between the attack he suffered as a child and his father's former curse, and hid his affliction and distanced himself from his family, in fear that he might harm them as his father had.

He attended college in Sanctuary, Ohio, keeping from getting too close to anyone, and would take a monthly trip to an unpopulated piece of land outside of town where he could transform without endangering others (except the occasional cattle). But that didn't last for long, as a trio of high school students met a grisly end when their visit to the abandoned area coincided with Keil's. He began searching for another way to contain himself, and met a group of shamans on his own college campus. They agreed to bind him once a month when he transformed, and the arrangement lasted until his graduation, when he took a job as a truck driver, which would grant him an escape from large amounts of contact with others and the ability to transform away from populated areas, and in the unfortunate event of human casualties, a low possibility of being linked to random 'wild animal' attacks. He survived that way until the age of twenty-seven, fending off the occasional Hunter who discovered him, until finally he found himself on the opposite end of a sword from Whisper, a Hunter-in-training. He succeeded in severely wounding the Hunter (although wounded himself) and was about to flee when his human mind was able to take enough control to attempt to keep the young hunter from dying. He was captured by Whisper's hidden companions, and was promptly bound to the repaired hunter, in the hope that each would be able to teach or control the other.

My family was pretty well to do. No lack of money coming in, but my dad was a total tight-wad. He never abused me or anything, but he really just wasn't a nice guy. He was never around for me to spend time with, but he still forced his way into my life. He demanded I get a job the moment I turned sixteen. I had to buy my own car when I got to that age, and he never bought me stuff, except for the very rare birthday present. When I got outta high school, he kicked me out and said I had to go to college. Anyway, my dad died a few months later, and he left me a few things, among them this damned wolf fang in a silver amulet that I know NOW was actually a magic binding circle. I accidentally broke it, and was cursed. As soon as I realized what had happened to me, I had the circle fixed and reformed, hoping that would lift the curse. No such luck. I did manage to get through college while hiding my...condition. I found a few mages who also went to the same school, and they offered to keep me bound in a binding circle while I was a wolf each month. It was a social life killer, to be seen hanging out with the resident weirdos, but after I beat a few of the big dumb football guys up most everyone left me alone. After getting out of college, I sorta managed my way into doing freelance Hunting for a little bit. I couldn't bind myself, so I found a place away from other people so I wouldn't hurt anyone when I changed. I guess word got out about me, because every once in a while a Hunter trying to prove him or herself would hunt me down. I could usually beat 'em up a bit, and either scare them off or convince them to leave me alone. Can't say I'm proud of hurting them, but it was me or them, and I wasn't in a situation to negotiate. It was the same thing when this cocky little freak with a sword shows up. I took him out with no problem, though he did get a lucky shot with his toothpick of a sword. Ran me through a little bit. My instincts took over, and I started disassembling him. The violent way. Once I came back to myself and realized what I'd done, I tried to help him a little, to make sure he wouldn't die while I ran for help. A little too late, I discovered the kid had Hunter friends with him, and I ended up getting snagged by his compatriots. They saved the dress wearing freak, and put him back together, then they bound the two of us to one another, though I still don't understand the reason for it. I guess they were trying to make me a good little doggy. That was never going to happen. I guess that's why we both got sold off to the Institute.

He and Whisper learned to operate as Hunter and Companion for about two years, forming a very tenuous and begrudging respect for one another, though neither would admit to any kind of positive feelings toward the other. Eventually they were both forced into working for the Institute by Whisper's family, where they were assigned to work with two other groups of Hunters.

Personal Feelings Toward Teammates:

Liam - Liam does stupid things sometimes, but that doesn't make him stupid. He's not a jerk. He tries too much to be a nice guy. He can be a bit of a coward. Hangs out with annoying ghosts. His heart's in the right place, but sooner or later someone's gonna use that against him.
+
Liam - He holds no strong feelings toward Liam, though given his fellow hunters, the young mage is probably the closest to a 'friend' he has within the group. Both share a similar situation, in that both were normal humans who had their supernatural abilities dropped onto them suddenly, and forced to deal with them.
-
Arty - Meh. Whatever. Not a total jerk. He hangs out with weird demons. Which is weird, cause he hates them. Arty's kinda weird. He's good at keeping demons in line, or at least, better than Liam. I guess it's not bad to have him around. Still, he's part demon. Even if he's a nice guy, he's still got demon in him.
+
Arty - Keil does share some sense of camaraderie with the half-demon, though Artemis' superiority makes him more of a teacher to the other Hunter pairs, rather than a friend to them. Both share a bestial nature they wish to control or do away with completely, but this neither strengthens nor breaks bonds between them.
-
Whisper - He's a JERK, an ASS, and more trouble than it's worth to even spend more than three MINUTES with him. He might be a capable Hunter, but it doesn't matter, because I can't STAND him. Uh...Jerk, Ass, Pain...OH. He's totally a homo. Have you seen what he wears? It's not just the dresses, he has shoes to go with them. You can't wear stuff like that and not be a homo. and he keeps talking about all these girls, but I've been stuck with him for a while, and he's nowhere close to the player he claims to be.
+
Whisper - On the surface, Keil and Whisper appear to truly despise one another, never having anything good to say about one another, and their arguments will, occasionally, come to physical blows. And, given how they found themselves working together and their personalities, there is a certain amount of friction between them. That said, Keil is fiercely loyal to his partner, and if given the choice, he would never abandon Whisper in a dangerous situation. The two can even occasionally even be seen on quite friendly terms, though usually with the aid of liquor.
-
Vivi - Yeah, someone needs to reign Viv in. She's too wild. She's liable to make trouble. Can't say I overly trust her. She doesn't seem to respect what Liam's doin' for her. What does she even DO, anyway? Oooh, she's slightly see-through, ooooooooooh. She's almost transparent, but not quite!
+
Vivi - Given Vivi's propensity for pranks, and Keil's weakness toward possession, he is often her favored victim. He doesn't take her pranks very kindly, and reacts with more than his share of hostility, so they share a mutual dislike for one another. On the surface it would appear that his dislike for Whisper is stronger, but there is no deeper level to his relationship with Vivi like there is with his partner.
-
Marigold - Besides being a creepy demon, I guess I have nothing against her. Sometimes I wonder if she's not being completely truthful with us, but I figure Arty'll keep her in line.
+
Marigold - Keil is slightly wary of her, given her status as a full-blooded demon, but overall has no reasons to suspect her of being dangerous to the rest of the team. The two don't seem to interact much, and what interactions do occur are usually on missions, so said interactions are short and hardly personal.
-
Bottom Line: Finding a way to break this curse. I figure if I spend enough time around all this supernatural stuff, I'm bound to find a way to undo this werewolf thing. Do that, and I can finally get back to a normal life.
+
Bottom Line: He seeks a way to break the curse of his bloodline for good, without leaving his medallion unprotected.

Keil Greaver, aged twenty-nine, is the son of Lorraine and Lowell Greaver. He is a main character of Haunted, currently holding the occupation of "Companion" to Whisper. Keil is also the unwilling victim of a werewolf bloodline curse that struck him prematurely due to the death of the curse's previous host before Keil's twenty-first birthday. The curse and his condition led to his first meeting with Whisper, and eventually his position in the Institute.

Contents

Personality

Keil's primary response to any remark that he construes as an insult, whether intentioned or not, is the threat of violence. Indeed, he is easy to anger, and can hold a grudge for a long time. Most of his anger seems to be directed toward his human anchor, Whisper, and fellow Companion, Vivi. However, he is not completely angry by nature, and is just as willing to associate with those who do not get on his bad side.

That being said, Keil is fiercely loyal to his friends, even the ones he claims to hate. Despite his constant threats against Whisper, one would be hard-pressed to see any extreme amounts of violence actually occur. This is not quite as true in Vivi's case, though one could make the argument that Keil is fully aware that Vivi is safer from physical assaults than others.

One could say, above all else, that Keil is embarrassed about his newfound status as a werewolf. He told none of his family or close friends about his condition, and very quickly set up a means of keeping himself hidden and safely away from others during his monthly transformations.

Physical Attributes

Keil appears younger than he actually is, due mostly to his curse. His aging process is severely slowed for as long as he carries the curse, making him appear approximately twenty years old, even though he's nearly a decade older. His hair is best described as a dark copper in color, with bangs that fall to his eyebrows, and the rest which falls past his shoulders. At the age of twelve, his father, in wolf form, attacked Keil, Anabelle, and their babysitter.
