V.I.P. Very important person. Many characters can be considered V.I.P.s in SOTF, from the higher-ups in the American government to the now deceased "Terrific Three" and right up to Mr. Danya himself. If you're looking to find out more information about Danya and his cohorts, or if you're just interested in knowing the names of some of the more important government officials for the sake of continuity, this is the place to be!
Aaron Bridges: President of the United States of America. Bridges is described as being an older Southern gentleman with a slight drawl in his speech and a very casual, laid-back, and joking demeanor. So far, Bridges has only made one appearance in SOTF, in a V1 announcement.
Steven O. Jones: Vice-President of the United States of America. Steven Jones is also the father of season one contestant Amanda Jones.
Samuel Carson: Described simply as being a "political extraordinaire", not much is known about Carson sans the fact that he may serve as some sort of advisor to President Aaron Bridges. Carson only appears in one scene of SOTF, during the scene in which the U.S. government first receives Danya's demands in V1.
Ryan Smith: New Jersey State Senator (2006) and father of season two contestant Walter Smith. Senator Smith's personality and mannerisms seem to be very akin to those of his son's, implying that perhaps he may have used his political power for personal gain. However, unlike Walter, who was a vicious and extremely violent psychopath, Ryan was described as being a coward. Smith turned up dead immediately following the conclusion of the second season of SOTF, when the Denton Gang Wars erupted.
Andrew Vincent Grayston IV: New Jersey State Senator (2006) and father of season two contestant Ali Grayston. Senator Grayston was known to have contributed countless dollars to charity and was known to have erected several buildings (including Denton's new recreational center) throughout the metro area, probably as a ploy for gaining support with the population. He was supposedly a rival of Ryan Smith, but other than a quick mention this has not been shown. Following the loss of his daughter to the SOTF ACT, Senator Grayston began an "Anti-SOTF Campaign" throughout the metro area.
Catherine "Cathy" Bexley: New Jersey House Representative (2006) and mother of Bathurst High School student Jack Bexley. The fateful day of the abduction, her son had stayed home from school due to illness and was spared from the fate of the other Bathurst students. When Senator Grayston began his Anti-SOTF Campaign, Bexley jumped on board and has been supporting Grayston throughout his campaign.
[First Name Omitted] Danya: SOTF Program Orchestrator (2005-2007). Mr. Danya was first introduced to SOTF during the prologue of the first season in which he subjected Barry Coleson High School to the first successful round of the SOTF ACT. Since then, little has been revealed about the enigma known as Danya other than his cynical personality and twisted sense of humor. He's a very secretive man by nature. In fact, sans his own family and his subordinates, only two students -- contest winners Adam Dodd and Bryan Calvert -- have ever come face to face with the mysterious man.
Lillian "Lilly" Danya: Danya's wife. Lilly is a minor character at best, having only made one appearance in SOTF during its run; during the Fourth Announcement, in Danya's "Homelife" scene.
[First Name Omitted] Danya: Danya has mentioned having a son, presumably much older than his daughter Amora, who is currently fighting on the frontlines for his homecountry. Nothing else has been revealed about Danya's son, not even his name.
Amora Danya: Danya's daughter. Amora is another minor character in SOTF, making an appearance during the "Homelife" scene of the Fourth Announcement. As of the current date, Amora is approximately eight years old. In her appearance in 2005, she was shown as a bubbly six year old with long pigtails. Whether her appearance and personality have changed at all is unconfirmed.
Dorian: Dorian could be best described as Danya's personal assistant. He doesn't particularly enjoy his job, and only works for Danya's organization to supply money to his family. He's portrayed as a stammering, unconfident individual and is also known to be quite tech-savvy (in V2, Danya orders him onto the island with a maintenance squadron in order to repair the cameras that had been damaged in the storm).
Achlys: Another minor character in the SOTF series. Achlys is one of Danya's grunts who is quite the computer genius. He's the person responsible for fixing the downed cameras during season one. He also got a moment of glory when he was allowed the opportunity to shoot down the helicopter containing Rice, Kaige, and McLocke.
Garnett: Of the four terrorists revealed during season one, Garnett is the most enigmatic. During the Fourth Announcement incident that resulted in his companions having their vocal chords severed and being thrown onto the island, Garnett was confirmed to have escaped the base before Danya returned. What happened to Garnett after he went AWOL is currently unknown.
Shannon McLocke: Perhaps better known as TBLACK, Shannon McLocke used to be one of Danya's most trusted employees. During the Fourth Announcement of the first season, McLocke was responsible for the "fanfiction fiasco" that sent Danya rampaging back to Headquarters. Along with Kaige and Rice, McLocke was thrown onto the island along with the students and was killed in action.
Angelina Kaige: Better known as TBLUE, Angelina Kaige was another of Danya's most valued employees. She, too, was a member of the Fourth Announcement fiasco, and while Kaige wasn't directly responsible for the ongoings in Danya's personal office, she was deemed guilty by association and faced the same punishment as McLocke and Rice. Kaige made a quite heavy impact in the game, nearly making it to the end before being eliminated by Jack O'Connor.
Elijah Rice: The final member of the "Terrific Three" that was thrown onto the island after the Fourth Announcement incident. Elijah Rice, known as TGREEN on the island, was the terrorist who made the fatal mistake of placing his can of soda on the announcement button, sealing the fate of himself and his co-workers in the process. While on the island, Rice temporarily aligned himself with Clemence Ceillet de Rousseau, who he'd had quite a fixation on throughout the season. Rice, much like his counterparts, was eventually killed in action.
Jim Greynolds: After the disappearance of Garnett, Kaige, McLocke, and Rice, Greynolds rose to the frontlines just in time for season two of SOTF, but his ties with Danya go much further back than that. In fact, Greynolds often claims the SOTF ACT was originally his idea. He was the only terrorist not forced onto the island to act as a prize deliverer at some point during V2. It's also rumored that Greynolds has a pet penguin, though this is unconfirmed.
Sonia Nguyen: Described as being the successor to Angelina Kaige, Sonia Nguyen is another of Danya's trusted allies who rose to the frontlines directly before the beginning of season two. Nguyen found herself playing delivery girl throughout much of V2, and was stuck at the island's marina for a large majority of the second season. Nguyen's background is shrouded in mystery, and all that has been confirmed about her are her lethal skills in fighting.
Melvin Carter: Perhaps the most silent of Danya's newest allies, very little is known about Melvin Carter. He was put in charge of orchestrating the abduction of P.J. Gilroy Academy's ninth grade class. As somewhat of a testament to Melvin's personality, the scene he selected to subject the Gilroy students to during their debriefing was perhaps one of the most disturbing scenes of the first season -- Cody Jenson's brutal rape and murder of Madelaine Shirohara.
Steven "Steve" Wilson: Perhaps the most publicized of Danya's new staff additions. He's the oldest of the four and it is implied that he's had heavy ties with Danya for a long time. Steve is most notable for being the principal of Bathurst High School during the abduction and having set the students up to be kidnapped and killed. He, like the other terrorists, is a member of the U.S.'s Most Wanted list, wanted for the crime of high treason.
[Name Unknown]: Unknown affiliation with organization (?-2005). This unnamed soldier has been affiliated with Danya since before the beginning of the SOTF ACT. He presumably helped to organize the ACT itself, had a hand in the abductions for the first season, and was also responsible for the execution of Barry Coleson's teachers. Presumably of high importance, he was one of the elite few chosen to escort season one winner Adam Dodd off of the island. It was during this encounter with Dodd that this individual began to question Danya's motives behind the game. After this encounter, he disappeared from the organization. He launched an underground campaign against Danya in hopes of making the truth of the SOTF ACT known to the public, but his allies were too few and too far in between. He soon found himself being tracked by Danya's men, who hoped to silence him. The result of his running was a chance encounter with Southridge student Julie Mikan. Julie harbored him in her home before he opted to leave, unwilling to put the girl in more danger than he already had. His current whereabouts are unknown, but it is believed he was captured and is being held against his will.
Grossi:
Sydney Morvran: Winner, SOTF v0. Syd hailed from Aberthol High School and participated in the final SOTF trial run, dubbed "V0". During his game, Syd barricaded the school building and holed up inside along with his group of friends. After a harmless incident went awry, his friends wound up slaughtering one another and Syd managed to avoid death by using his friend Jess as a shield. He went on to win the game by hiding and managed to avoid killing any of his classmates. As some kind of twisted punishment for not killing any of the other students, Danya threw him back onto the island where he was killed during the first official season of SOTF.
Adam Dodd: Winner, SOTF v1. One of the most well-known characters of season one, as well the the eventual winner of the game. Adam was the first winner of SOTF to be sent home after the program (See: Sydney Morvran). The first portion of Adam's game was spent in a vain attempt at saving the other members of a group now dubbed the "Intrepid Six" -- his romantic interest, Amanda Jones; Madelaine Shirohara; Hawley Faust, David Jackson, and Marcus Roddy, six students who he formed very deep ties with while on the island. After the death of his friends, Adam swore to win the game and kill Danya at the end. He racked up one of the highest kill counts in SOTF with an astonishing twelve kills to his name -- and all but two kills being self-defense. At the end of the game, he fights and kills Cody Jenson (who murdered Madelaine and Amanda) and is escorted off the island where he meets Danya. Adam doesn't manage to kill Danya, but he does manage to inflict him with a scar across his face. During the third season of the game, Adam is reabducted and placed back into the game with the rest of his classmates at Southridge High School.
Bryan Calvert: Winner, SOTF v2. Perhaps the most well-known character of season two, as well as the winner of the game. Bryan could be described as more of an anti-hero than a protagonist. He actively engages in the murder of several people on the island, most of which seem to be either circumstancial or revenge-related in nature. Throughout the season, he sticks close to Tori Johnson, his romantic interest from Bathurst High School. Bryan suffers through the loss of his "leader" and close friend, Seth Mattlock, but perseveres and manages to make it to the end of the season. When Tori is killed by someone he once considered a friend -- Mariavel Varella -- Bryan is pushed over the edge and vows to kill her. At the end of the season, he accidentally kills Whitney Acosta in some twisted parallel to Tori's death before finally finding Mariavel. Mariavel is killed during the fight and Bryan is declared the winner of the second season afterward.
Jack O'Connor: Runner-up, SOTF v1. Jack's most notable contribution while participating in season one of SOTF was his success in hacking into Danya's systems and downloading a virus into his programs. While it was nothing besides a minor annoyance to Danya, Jack did succeed in taking the conclusion of season one off the air, forcing the conclusion to be aired later on in the year.
Cody Jenson: Third place, SOTF v1. Quite possibly the most notorious villain of season one (especially during the latter half of the game) and one of the most memorable villains. Cody was the rival of fourth place contestant Sidney Crosby, and during the game, he developed an intense rivalry with season one winner Adam Dodd. Cody was responsible for the brutal rape and murder of Madelaine Shirohara as well as the death of Amanda Jones. He came in second place overall in season one, eliminated by Adam Dodd.
Sidney Crosby: Fourth place, SOTF v1. Canadian hockey phenom, rival to Cody Jenson, and all-around coward, Crosby managed to gain some sort of cult following during his time in season one. He appeared relatively late in the game, sticking with Chance Burton's group until Chance is killed. Later on in the game, he runs into Jill Gatling, Jack O'Connor, and Martyn Ferdinand at the warehouse and temporarily aligns himself with them. He and Jack are the only members of the group to survive Angelina Kaige's assault on the warehouse, and Sid manages to slither his way into the final four and even ends up taking a bullet for the eventual winner, Adam Dodd, and also ends up being the instrument of Cody Jenson's demise. He is shot in the head by Jenson, ending his game.
Jeremy Torres: Eighth place, SOTF v1. One of the most long-lived protagonists in season one. Jeremy belonged to a large group consisting of Fred Hughes, Glenn Hughes, and Mallory DeLuca, along with multiple other students. Jeremy was a driving force on the island and pushed for escape throughout the entirety of the season. He only succumbs to the game very late in the season when he is forced to kill competitor Eh-Sun Choi at the warehouse. Near the end of the game, he finds himself locked in a car chase with Lucinda Garnett. The two inadvertantly drive into the dangerzone, and before his collar can be detonated, Jeremy eliminates himself from the game as one final screw-over to Mr. Danya.
Peri Barclay: 105th eliminated, SOTF v1. Another infamous killer throughout season one, Peri is famous for shooting first and asking questions never. He aligned himself with childhood friend Stevan Hyde early on in the game, and together, the two led a bloody assault on the entire island, eliminating anyone and everyone who fell within shooting range. Peri was separated from Stevan late in the game and encountered Dorian Greywood shortly after. The events that occurred between Peri and Dorian have been dubbed the "Bathroom Fiasco". After leaving Dorian, Peri ran into Adam Dodd and attacked him. He was decapitated in the fight.
Jacob Starr: 59th eliminated, SOTF v1. One of the most notorious killers throughout season one, especially during the first half of the season. Jacob aligned himself with Uriel Hunter throughout the first few days of the game, killing anyone he could and actively hunting Adam Dodd and Hawley Faust. After Uriel was killed, Jacob continued playing the game. He did unwittingly kill Hawley, who succumbed to wounds inflicted upon him by Jacob over the first few days on the island. Jacob continued to be a brutal force on the island until approximately halfway through the game. After the destruction of the "Intrepid Six", Jacob encounters Adam Dodd and reveals that he was responsible for the death of David Jackson. During the resulting fight, Jacob is killed by Adam.
Amanda Jones: 55th eliminated, SOTF v1. Adam Dodd's romantic interest and a member of the "Intrepid Six". Amanda grew quite close to Madelaine Shirohara. She was nearly killed by Blaine Eno relatively early in the game, but was saved by Adam Dodd. Together, the group vowed to find a way off the island before being systematically picked off, one by one. Immediately following Madelaine's brutal murder, Amanda was killed by a bullet from Cody Jenson's gun when he fired at Sidney Crosby before escaping from the river. Amanda's death was what pushed Adam over the edge and made him vow to eliminate Cody Jenson.
Madelaine Shirohara: 54th eliminated, SOTF v1. Perhaps one of the most influential and well-known members of the "Intrepid Six", falling in rank with Adam Dodd and Hawley Faust. Madelaine was, put simply, the glue that held the group together. She was calm, caring, and rational, and it was quite possibly due to her cool head that the group survived as long as they did. Madelaine was responsible for the death of her best friend, Nanami Nishida, when Nanami succumbed to the game and attacked their group. Later on in the game, she was viciously assaulted, raped, and killed by Cody Jenson. Her death, along with the death of Amanda Jones, was the inspiration that caused Adam to pursue Cody for the latter half of the season. After her death, Madelaine Shirohara Day began in the state of New York.
David Jackson: 51st eliminated, SOTF v1. Another member of the "Intrepid Six", David joined up with Madelaine Shirohara and Amanda Jones early in the game under the pretense that he wished to protect Amanda because of her status as the Vice-President's daughter. The truth was, David harbored a large crush on Amanda throughout the game. He was perhaps the most tempermental and distrusting of the Intrepid Six, and he formed a sort of ongoing rivalry with Jacob Starr over the course of the game. After Cody Jenson locks Amanda and Madelaine inside the warehouse, David chases Jacob away from the scene hoping to buy Adam Dodd and Martyn Ferdinand enough time to free the girls. During the resulting fight between himself and Jacob, David is killed.
Marcus Roddy: 46th eliminated, SOTF v1. Perhaps one of the lesser known members of the "Intrepid Six", as they have since been dubbed, but a member and an important protagonist nonetheless. Marcus is best remembered for his powerful resolve and horrible stutter. He fell victim to a horrific beating by Cody Jenson approximately halfway through the season and eventually fell into a coma due to his wounds. He was inevitably eliminated from the competition by Adam Dodd, who thought it better to kill Marcus out of mercy than leave him to be killed in some horrific way by another competitor.
Hawley Faust: 43rd eliminated, SOTF v1. Hawley was eliminated relatively early during season one, but is arguably one of the most well-known characters of the season. He quickly succumbed to the game very early in season one, but after meeting up with season one winner Adam Dodd, Hawley redeemed himself and went on to become one of the leading protagonists of the season. Hawley eventually succumbed to wounds approximately halfway through the season, and his death had a detremental affect on the remainder of the "Intrepid Six". After Hawley's death, the group started to fall apart, the members quickly being picked off by various murderers. Adam was the only survivor.
Andrew Lipson: 18th eliminated, SOTF v1. Arguably one of the most tragic characters of season one, Andrew Lipson was the wheelchair-bound best friend of season one winner Adam Dodd. Lipson was eliminated very early in the game due to a series of unfortunate events. While trying to contact Dodd via cell phone during a thunderstorm, he was struck by a bolt of lightning, fell from his wheelchair, and rolled down onto the shores of the island where, unable to move, he drowned. His death was a pivotal point in Adam Dodd's game.

Mariavel Varella: Runner-up, SOTF v2. Easily the most notorious female villain of season two, with a kill count rivalled only by that of season two winner Bryan Calvert. Mariavel succumbed to the game early on, losing her mind and drifting into insanity. Being raped by Walter Smith and discovering that the leader of the Bloody Fists and her romantic interest, Seth Mattlock, had been eliminated from the game only served to send her futher down the path of madness. Mariavel spends her entire game destroying the competition before finally facing Bryan Calvert -- Seth's murderer -- at the end of the season. Mariavel loses their fight and just before her death, is faced with several revelations about her past.
Ricky Callahan: Third place, SOTF v2. One of the protagonists of season two. Early in the game, he formed a group with Jackie Kovacs, Gail Smith, John Matthews, and Kayla Ravoy. After finding his romantic interest, Whitney Acosta, his entire group was decimated by the game and he quickly found that his sole motivation for continuing through the game was to send Whitney home. At the end of the game, Whitney is eliminated by Bryan Calvert. All the pent-up anger and frustration of the game devestates Ricky after her death, and he breaks down mentally before eliminating himself from the competition, believing he failed his "mission" by not being able to protect Whitney.
Whitney Acosta: Fourth place, SOTF v2. Ricky Callahan's romantic interest prior to and well into the second season of SOTF. Ricky saved Whitney from an untimely death at the hands of Eric Silvstedt, inadvertantly killing his best friend in the process. After the incident, the two stuck together throughout the remainder of the game, with Ricky promising to send Whitney home at the end. When Whitney was accidentally killed by Bryan Calvert, who had mistaken her for Mariavel Varella at the end of the season, Ricky promptly committed suicide, setting the stage for Bryan to fight Mariavel at the end of the game.
Tori Johnson: Fifth place, SOTF v2. Bryan Calvert's romantic interest and ultimately, his reason for continuing on in the game. Tori found Bryan early on in the season and stuck to him like glue, saving him from trouble as well as sinking him into it a few times throughout the game. Her relationship with Bryan grew while on the island and it was Tori who was perhaps responsible for the drastic evolution that Bryan showed over the course of the game. Her death at the end of the season nearly broke him and provided the motivation he needed to hunt down and eliminate her murderer, his former friend, Mariavel Varella.
Damien Carter-Madison: Sixth place, SOTF v2. A poor, tortured soul from P.J. Gilroy Academy whose sole purpose in the game was to enact vengeance upon the students who had wronged him, and he was willing to eliminate anything standing in his way. Damien was a man with a plan. Even from the very first day of the season, he knew exactly who he wanted to eliminate from the competition, and he even wound up scoring a few other kills along the way. He gained infamy and notoriety around the island for his murders, and nearly made it to the end before a battle with Mariavel Varella fatally wounded him and he succumbed to blood loss.
Vesa Turunen: Seventh place, SOTF v2. Finnish hockey phenom Vesa Turunen had a reputation as large as his stature throughout the second season of SOTF. He aligned himself with a few different groups temporarily, but the Fin really came to the forefront when he joined up with Ricky Callahan and his group around the time they went to the hotel. After Mariavel killed Matthias Kovalenko at the hotel, she and Vesa fought, with Vesa accidentally killing Debrah Dollop during the skirmish. He went on to make it to nearly the end of the season before being eliminated by Damien Carter-Madison.
Franco Sebberts: 106th eliminated, SOTF v2. Coming in third after Bryan Calvert and Mariavel Varella, Franco was one of the most notorious killers on the island, gathering a total of six eliminations during the game. Franco gained a sort of infamy by winning several Best Kill Awards during his stay on the island, but was killed near the end of season two when the industrial district warehouse he and several other students had been in collapsed and crushed him.
Seth Mattlock: 97th eliminated, SOTF v2. Seth is most notable for being the leader of the Bloody Fists. Most of Seth's time on the island was spent laying low, and the first real impact the leader of the Fists made was when he walked in on gang member Mariavel Varella being brutally raped by Walter Smith. Seth saves Mariavel and fights Walter before the fight is broken up by another gang member, Bryan Calvert. Later on in the season, we see Seth again when he intervenes on the hostage situation taking place between Felix Travertil, Tori Johnson, and Bryan Calvert on the roof of the hotel. Seth is fatally wounded by Felix in the battle and insists that Bryan win the game before succumbing to his wounds. Seth played a pivotal role for both Mariavel and Bryan (even furthering Mariavel's descent into insanity with his death) throughout the remainder of the game.
Jackie Kovacs: 34th eliminated, SOTF v2. During his time in season two, Jackie Kovacs banded together with Ricky Callahan, Gail Smith, John Matthews, and Kayla Ravoy. Together, the group was bent on escaping the island. When the group split up to search for supplies in the residential district, Jackie was attacked and killed by Felix Travertil. His death motivated most everyone in the group in one way or another -- for students like Ricky and Gail, their resolve to conquer the game was strengthened. As for John, he set a goal to hunt down and eliminate Felix for killing Jackie.
Eric Silvstedt: 22nd eliminated, SOTF v2. While not a significant player on the island, Eric's attack on Whitney Acosta that ultimately lead to the altercation between himself and his best friend, Ricky Callahan, proved to be a very pivotal point for Ricky. Eric was impaled on the makeshift spear he'd fashioned during their altercation, and Ricky's accidental murder of his best friend haunts him throughout the entirety of season two.

Grant Varella: Mariavel's older brother, now deceased. While Grant only makes one appearance during season two in a flashback Mariavel has directly before her death, he plays a very pivotal role in her motivations for winning the game. The trademark green berette that Mariavel latches onto throughout season two was given to her by her brother shortly before he was beaten to death by their alcoholic father.
Nicole Carter-Madison: The mother of Damien Carter-Madison and an influential figure within the city of Denton, New Jersey. Throughout much of Damien's progress in the game, his mother's reactions to his doings are shown. In his delusional state, Damien believes that Nicole is the cause of SOTF and believes she is trying to exploit him for her own personal gain.
Luke Dodd: The biological brother of Adam Dodd, who was committed to an institution years ago due to an incident where he lost control and attacked his older brother, putting him in the hospital and threatening his life. It was discovered that Luke's condition was a result of the medication that he was taking, and he remained within the institution in Canada for a few years, undergoing some counselling, as well as switching to a different medication. When Adam was placed in SOTF the first time, he felt regret that he had never forgiven his brother for what he had done, and used this as a form of motivation for himself. When Adam won the game and was returned to the United States, Adam returned to Canada and finally forgave his brother. As of 2007, when Adam was reabducted back with the rest of his Southridge High classmates, Luke had been released from the hospital and was living a more-or-less normal life with the rest of his family in Canada, having almost completely recovered from the adverse effects of the medication.
