The SLA is one of the worlds largest information related Associations with 12,000 members in 85 countries with 58 chapters and 25 divisions. The Asian chapter covers a large geographical area consisting of 22 countries. The Asian chapter future plans include:
1.To promote networking with Asian Libraries and Information Centers. 2.To provide guidelines and professional support to the Asian Library and Information Professionals. 3.To provide training to Asian Chapter information professionals. 4.To organize Annual Meetings of Asian Librarians and Information Professionals. 5.To organize workshops / seminars in various countries of the region. 6.To create a common platform for the Asian region to exchange innovative ideas and experiences. 7.To send representatives to the SLA Annual conference. 8.To support SLA activities by increasing Asian membership. 9.To organize visits of members to libraries of the Asian countries.
