The newly-released, fuel-efficient 2008 Isuzu Ascender was recently placed by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 25 "Midsize Affordable SUVs" in the U.S. In terms of safety features, the 2008 Ascender received the same standing while the 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer and the 2008 GMC Envoy.

U.S. World & news Report observed that the 2008 Isuzu Ascender fared well in crash tests conducted by the us government, specially in side-impact crashes. Based on the post in U.S. Media, the Ascender acquired five out of five stars in government crash tests (if you had prefer to see for yourself, check always out the Ascender's page on the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration's web site for the entire report) for both front and rear-seat passenger safety. Certainly one of the several reasons the Isuzu Ascender earned this kind of favorable rating is that side-impact airbags now come standard in the 2008 product.

The Ascender comes standard with fog lights and daytime operating lights, and also incorporates a specialized stability control program called Stabilitrak StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control. The system includes footing control with balance control systems, in addition to anti-lock brakes. Together, the three are made to help the driver keep online order of the vehicle.

In addition to its energetic safety features, the 2008 model also has improved passive safety features. Air bags are offered by the 2008 Ascender for both the driver and the front passenger, along with normal head-curtain side-impact air bags. These air bags were choices on the 2007 design. An automatic air bag suppression system is also featured by the newer Ascender made to deactivate the front-passenger airbag and reduce airbag-related accidents.

The Isuzu Ascender even offers a human anatomy design which allows for extraordinary visibility from the driver's seat. In comparison, U.S. News & World Report observed that, in terms of the 2008 Mazda CX-7, "test drivers have expressed concern, however, about damaged front exposure as a result of sharp style of the CX-7's windshield."

But security isn't the sole reason to obtain when driving of an Ascender. U.S. News & World report, in the overall impression of the 2008 Isuzu Ascender, noted that the Ascender "delivers and a superb warranty and easy ride" and also pointed out the SUV's outstanding towing capabilities. The 2WD model can tow, when properly prepared, as much as 5,800 pounds.

Generally speaking, reviewers were impressed with the Ascender's V6 motor power and how a SUV handles. Kelley Blue Book noted that "the Ascender seems controlled and agile." Still another writer from Auto Media pointed out that the Ascender works "smoothly and quietly" and "accelerates intensely from a standstill."

Based on an evaluation in the Orlando Sentinel, the Ford Explorer is beaten by the Ascender when off-roading. Comparing the 2, the reviewer praised, " the solid rear axle of the Ascender is just a better design, providing the Isuzu more agility in severe off-road traction situations." U.S. Information also noted that the 2008 Ford Explorer's "heavy steering detracts from overall performance."

Intellichoice has not yet ranked the 2008 Isuzu Ascender, but did identify Isuzu's complete 2006 make as best within their course for low prices.
