"Me? I'm something else, obviously. You would be wise to fear anything beyond such universal constants as Death, and Taxes."

History: Wrong Place, Wrong Time

Despite being one of the handful of people that escaped from the Deadlands of Hekaitor -after- the nukes fell, very little is actually known about Jasper Morgan in any database. It is known that he was an acolyte of the few Hekaitorian temples, the orphan son of an influential and famous soldier-priest whose purpose was to both care for the masses and rally them in case of invasion.. But after that it gets kind of sketchy. Orphans in Hekaitor are almost an impossibility due to their social programs- it was presumed that a female of the savage, secretive barbarian tribes north of Hekaitor's borders died while fleeing from some natural disaster, thus leaving him for the priest to find and raise. For fifteen years he survived in one of Hekaitor's underground apocalypse bunkers, which were rumored to have enough supplies to hold entire towns for decades; how he could have managed this alone is unknown, since maintaining such a structure requires advanced engineering knowledge . And yet, once he came forth from the bunkers and managed to escape to Sharaha on a barely functioning oil tanker, he seemed to have gone entirely under the radar- along with every other survivor, this is attributed to the fact that he arrived in Sharaha on the exact same date the Upheaval began. Several reports suggest that he temporarily joined the Athenian military during their missions to fight the various magical forces that surfaced during the Upheaval, but if he was it was under an assumed identity.

Persona: Man on Fire

Morgan is a bit of an enigma given the social history and psychological background of your average Hekaitorian. He displays virtually none of the carefully cultivated outlooks, beliefs, or mannerisms that are attributed to the people of that country. Indeed, he is almost the absolute opposite of Hekaitor's ideals of psychological perfection; he is rude, constantly angry, unpleasant, foul mouthed, inclined to speak his true feelings about anything at any time, and downright murderous in some situations. How such an extreme change could come to anyone raised in a Hekaitor environment is a mystery, but many psychiatrists theorize that it has something to do with a lack of constant enforcement of Hekaitorian psych laws and the fact that his homeland is an irradiated wasteland. His skills in combat reflect none of the Deadlands soldier-priest training regimes; he utilizes a strange mixture of something akin to Capoeria, bar room brawling, and various swordsmanship styles. For all his apparent rage, he displays what some psychiatrists consider an unsurprising gentleness around and towards children, going to great lengths to ensure their safety, and exercising a particularly virulent hatred and lust for blood on those who abuse or exploit them. It is believed to be a powerful paternal instinct, as opposed to some tragedy early on in his own life. Believed to suffer flashbacks and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Current Activities: Beyond the Law

Due to his temper and his tendency towards disregarding law in favor of following his own beliefs, Jasper is technically a criminal. Though he has no official criminal record, police -know- he's capable of committing particularly gruesome murders, chain-smoking, and various misdemeanors. Perhaps the only reason he hasn't been jailed yet is because he's 'unofficially' gotten rid of some even worse threats to society. But that also means he has to be on the road a lot, to avoid officials in high places who don't care that he's balanced out his bad with good. He has a tendency to show up where he's least wanted but most needed, or vice versa, to fix what he sees as a problem- whether people like it or not. If he champions or supports any real 'cause', it is known only to himself.

Occupation: Have Sword, Will Travel

Jasper tends to earn his keep as a sell-sword; that is, a mercenary. Though he's a tad picky about some jobs, one can usually acquire his fire and steel with the proper amount of credit or bullion. Of course, at the right time and the right place, you might just get him to perform a task for nothing.. And one can be sure that if his wrath has been roused, he won't mind slaying free of charge. Specializes in 'handling' various forms of Undead, can be trusted as far as a potential employer's honesty.
