Ryoujinrou, Japan

Ryoujinrou is a moderately sized city located on the coast, south of the Capital. It is divided into two main parts - the city proper, which lies along the coast, and Iori Island, a small, sparsely populated island connected to the mainland by means of monorail. More than 60,000 people live and work in Ryoujinrou and the surrounding towns and villages sport another 30-40,000 people. In many ways, the city is very much a typical Japanese city, but just like any city it has its dark side and its secrets lurking in the shadows.

Amikaze

Located to the north of the city proper, Amikaze is the oldest part of Ryoujinrou, with many of its buildings dating back to the early 1900s. Despite the constant threat of fire, the buildings are well-kept and their historical significance, combined with the numerous natural hot springs that dot the area, make Amikaze a center for tourism and family holidays.

Amikaze Beach

A tourist beach looking out over the bay to Iori Island, Amikaze Beach is sparsely populated during the winter, but sees a thriving tourist trade in the spring and summer. A couple of seasonal hotels overlook the beach, and there's even an amusement park - the Amenoshibo Arcade - which sees steady business year-round.

Iori Port Island

Though only lightly populated, Iori Island is one of the focal points of Ryoujinrou, due to its distinction as the site of Sunida High School, one of the most prestigious private high schools in the country. Aside from the school and the Segakanekko shinto Shrine on the island's north coast, the majority of the island is wilderness.

Sunida High School

Sunida High School is one of the most prestigious high schools in the country. Owned by the Teshvara Corporation, entrance is only possible for the children of reasonably wealthy families, employees of the Corporation or the beneficiaries of one of Teshvara's numerous but difficult to obtain corporate scholarships. A sizeable percentage of the school's student body is native to Ryourinrou, living at home with their parents, a number of students - however - come from other cities, or even from overseas, and live in one of the four dormitories on the Island, or in the senior dormitories on the mainland. In addition to the dorms and other important out-buildings, Sunida has its own monorail terminal connecting it to the mainland.

Segakanekko Shrine

A traditional shinto shrine, dedicated to the Shinto kami "Segakanekko". Given Iori's relatively sparse population, the shrine is a fairly lonely place tended only by a small, dedicated group of shinto priests.
