Selkies
As PCs
- In a water campaign, a selkie should be a +1 character level adjustment, but in a non-water campaign they're balanced well enough to not get the level penalty
- Selkies are curious creatures. Often times this leads to trouble, as they often take their hide off to wander the shores at which point humans have been known to capture their hide. Whoever has their hide has the selkie under their full control.
- Selkies that travel often will have an enchantment put on their hide to make it wearable in human form (usually turning it into slick hide armor)
- Selkies are proficient with longswords regardless of class.
- If a selkie already has their armor on, they can shapeshift to a seal as at will, similar to the druid's wildshape ability. If they are not already wearing their armor, it takes them 5 rounds to don their armor.
- Selkies vastly prefer to be humans on land and seals in the water.
- Selkies are able to shapeshift back out of baleful polymorph like other shapeshifters.
