Basic Information

Full Name: Atolo Bourne
Player: Mikone
Date of Birth: July 7th, 1989
Age: 17
Journal: wordasmypride
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 141 lbs

Appearance

Atolo has an athletic build, which isn't really apparent through his uniform (which he doesn't wear properly most of the time). But he also casually dresses himself in slightly baggy and unflattering clothes as well. He carries a childish look about his face, wide cheeks and bright blue eyes. His hair is dark brown and styled down into a slightly curly do. One of his most distinct features is his constant expression of distress, which may not always be his current mood. Over all, he appears to have a half-messy look about him either in or out of school. He's a big fan of the loose jeans and t-shirt deal.

Visible Markings: None
Not readily visible Markings: An about four-inch long rip-shaped scar on his upper left arm from a failed trick done on his bike about three years ago. :(

Atolo's PB is Teddy Geiger.

Personality

One thing that stands out about him is his confidence. He seems to be a pretty self-confident guy on the outside, but when one takes a good jab at it, it deflates easily. This is something left over from his adjustment to culture shock, but the 'dames' usually find his deflated confidence sort of cute (this, of course, he doesn't mind at all. :)

Your general slacker, Atolo only gives enough effort required to complete a set task. However, whenever something interests him enough, he has been known to give his 100%! Otherwise, he devotes most of his energy to extra curricular activities, such as football and playing his guitar. Oh, and the dames!

Culturally, he's still a bit awkward (American, lol), but he has apparently hit it off well enough with a French student who has lovingly dubbed him 'Beau', the nickname has stuck with him in 2-2.

History

Born into the upper crust of New York, NY, Atolo was the only child of the Bourne family. His parents were important and busy people, his father being a rich stock broker and his mother being a successful businesswoman. While they were around to raise him for those needy years, a nanny (or caretaker) easily took their place when the time was right. The child was separated from his parents near the start.

Most kids would want to do well in life so such distant parents would notice them, but Atolo didn't think this way at all. He hated being alone, being raised by a people he only saw once in a while. Even if he knew they had important things to do that made them wealthy, that didn't nessesarily mean he understood why, or even wanted to. So instead of trying to do well and good so his parents would notice, Atolo decided to be a little troublemaker.

Even before he entered schooling, the child would purposely disobey his caretakers, knock over priceless vases and generally run amuck. This certainly got his parent's attention, it worked every time. On the inside, he was happy he was getting their attention (albeit negative), but on the outside he appeared to be the rude and angry child he intended to be. It was a lot for someone his age to take on, but it was natural.

Years passed, Atolo attended several private schools in New York, all of which he hated. His disobedience streak continued, which included (and was not limited to) demerits, detentions and even minor suspensions. He slept in class, cheated on tests, talked back to administrators, etc, etc. But whatever he did, it was never anything too outrageous, he seemed like your average slacker-type trouble maker. Even if he was a New Yorker, he couldn't seem to fit in too well with any of the kids who went to public schools. As he tried to be tough and all, his rich background made him stick out like a thumb around public school kids. It was probably the best for him not to be around them, anyway, he thought.

His parents, throughly frustrated with the delinquency of their son, eventually sent him away. Far away, matter of fact. This was not what Atolo wanted at all, he just wanted them to pay attention to him! His habit of an act had gone all too far, actually it had backfired. The boy was all alone, now.

This is how Atolo ended up in Second Heaven. With the help of his parent's influence (and money), he tested in immediately. Even if he was delinquent child, Atolo was intelligent enough to get in. That is all he need.

Being in a new, strange, and foreign land was a huge culture shock for Atolo. Home was a place where he was secure of his surroundings, this place was different, a whole new place. The punk that he once was shrunk back into a shell, he became awkward and slightly anti-social.

He stayed like this for the majority of his first year, adjusting to his new surroundings and trying to cope with the decision his parents had made for him. However, Atolo was still ever the slacker. He slept in class, barely finished homework and sometimes even skipped whole days. He even thought about trying to get himself kicked out-- but then he'd have to return to his parents, who he hated more than ever, now.

Atolo finished out the year with the same score he entered with, but began to clean up his tardies and absences a little. He was gaining friends and stepping out of his shell bit by bit, becoming more like his old self. One of his bigger social problems are with the ladies. While he was good at getting girlfriends at home, he has found himself nothing but trouble in the subject at Second Heaven.

His second year approaches, how will things play out for the misplaced Yankee boy?
