Basic Information

Full Name: Marlene Elena Appleby
Player: The Guindo
Date of Birth: September 2 1989
Age: 17
Journal: obnoxioun
Height: 5'10"
Weight:: 150 lbs

Appearance

Long black hair, with bangs just barely long enough to fall in her eyes, which are hazel: something between brown and green, though coloured contacts to cover up her natual muddy colour are not uncommon. Slightly broad shoulders: swimmer's shoulders, some would say, except she doesn't swim. Thin, leggy, with a cute nose (surgery), perfectly arched eyebrows (plucked), and a size D chest (implants). The slightly large hands and the size ten shoes are the only things, it seems, that she dislikes about herself and hasn't been able to change.

She has dark circles under her eyes that she barely manages to cover up with her makeup on a daily basis, a testament to the hard work she puts into her good grades. When not dressed in the school uniform, she tends toward a very girly, cutting edge of fashion look, but she never wears skirts above mid-thigh. She is also a fan of scarves (usually the sheer/silk, brightly coloured or intricately patterned ones) and huge dangly earrings.

Marlene's PB is Lily Allen.

Personality

Everything about her is fake. Her nose, her chest, her personality, it's all fake. Just as you can see the plastic surgery scars if you look closely enough in the right places, you can see the edges of her mask if you know where to find it. She's built herself up to be one of the mean girls, somebody who doesn't care about other people and won't hesitate to pull anything she needs to get her way. It's a front, covering the underlying occasionally-shy, caring girl that she is.

Underneath the mask, she's respectful and polite to those she needs to be respectful and polite toward, genuinely caring about all of her friends, and prone to acts of kindness when nobody who'll spoil her reputation may be looking. The mean bitch image that she's learned to put up to keep people from getting close to her really is just a projection and she usually ends up feeling honest regret for the undeserving people that she hurts (however, she does find it easy not to be so regretful about the deserving ones). Not that she usually does anything about that regret except let it eat at her; apologizing would ruin the image, after all.

Marlene is all about her image; she's all about how other people perceive her. While she remains dedicated to her work, she's very easy to convince or guilt, and so oftentimes ends up going out with friends instead of studying, because only losers blow off their friends for school, right? This causes her to stay up entirely too late to work on schoolwork entirely too often, but she can't say no because she doesn't want to risk upsetting her friends, or worse, losing them because she chose school over them. She pretends not to care, when the truth is that it really does bother her. She'll never say anything about it; she doesn't want to be the friend that brings everyone down that way.

She needs new friends.

History

Marlene was born in Whitechapel, London. Early childhood was fairly idyllic, there were no problems at home, happy parents with a happy marriage, and a well-adjusted, well-behaved child. At the age of six, however, both parents were caught in a car accident with a drunk driver, and everyone involved was killed. Marlene had been left home with the babysitter, and woke up to find herself orphaned.

Having no blood relatives who were fit to take her in, she ended up in an orphanage for the next two years. At eight, she was adopted by a well-off couple who wanted children but couldn't have any of their own. She was a quiet, antisocial sort of child at this age, more likely to stay inside and read than go outside to play on sunny days, but after a few months with her new parents she started coming out of this shell and within two years she had gone from recluse to social butterfly.

After that, it went back to the good childhood with loving parents in a good home situation that it had been before, but with different parents and a different home. This lasted until she hit her teenage years when a bunch of personal issues started giving her problems with the other students at her school, and her parents decided it was time for a change of scenery and they moved to Schubert and transfered their child to Second Heaven to start over.
