History
Ariel is a sleeper: she went to sleep a long time ago. In fact, maybe a few months before the button got pushed. She was the treasured youngest daughter of a scientist who was intelligent enough to put all the pieces together to realize what was likely coming, and took steps to try to ensure his family would be at least a little safe.
