This scene is exactly what it says right up there. Aimee and Dylan establish their relationship and by proxy Dylan's relationship with Hallie. They're doing something weird. (I was thinking that he could be an amateur entomologist/botanist, and I would be a documentarienne, filming him poorly).
EXT. Countryside. Day
Shaky camerawork and poor resolution filming. We see DYLAN looking directly into the camera.
Hey, smile! Smile and wave. (Dylan attempts to smile and fails...). Okay, we'll cut this part out. Um.
The camera weaves all over the place, attempting to take in the scene.
In the summer after his senior year of high school, seventeen year-old amateur entomologist Tobias Cortrell embarked on an ambitious project that would shake the foundations of science as we know it. This is the documentary of his quest. (Pause.) Um, we'll have maybe like some dramatic music here? What do you think?

Camera zooms to an extreme close-up, then withdraws to a normal close-up.
Photinus phyralis is the most common variety of firefly or lightning bug.
By studying the flash patterns of Photinus over a period of several weeks, Tobias intends to create a compendium of firefly mating signals.
Aimee sneezes, somewhat violently, in an attempt to regain balance, she lunges forward into Dylan, who does not bother to regain his balance or stop discussing the particular fly in front of him... dylan fall's in the mud, and after a few moments hesitation, omit's a sigh.
It's no good; turn it off.
