EXT. Party house
Dylan flips his cell phone shut as he walks into the frame. He walks to the door.
INT. Party house
Dylan walks through hordes of people. CUT to– A side shot of Dylan walking through a densely packed room. To convey the isolation he feels, let's have everyone sort of moving to the left while he walks to the right, towards the couch where he first saw Kati. CUT to– Bird's eye shot. (probably filmed from the second floor of the party) Dylan, making his way through the crowd, is just a miniscule speck. CUT to– Side shot of Dylan walking through crowd. Suddenly, the crowd seems to part for Dylan, and there sitting in the middle of the frame, on a plush red couch, is Kati. She is talking on a cell phone. Dylan can't hear what she's saying. CUT to–
Close up shot of Kati on phone.

CUT to–
Shot of Dylan as he makes his way to a couch adjacent to Kati's. He is pretty passive– to gain her attention, he taps his feet and cranes his long neck.
Medium shot of Kati. She looks slightly amused.
Medium shot of Dylan. He wraps his arms around his chest to show discomfort and draw more attention to himself.
Medium shot of Kati. A half-smile crosses her face, and she waits for Dylan to make his move.
Medium shot of Dylan. He remains seated, clears his throat, and speaks.
Whenever I'm at a big party like this, I always feel somewhat awkward.
Camera pans to Kati. She has retained the half-smile, and looks only slightly attentive.
You see, I always think I'll discuss something too stimulating for the occasion, and lose the other person's interest.
Kati remains half smiling. Dylan looks earnest.
I don't know, what do you think?
I probably feel the same way sometimes. I don't know either– why do you think I'm sitting by myself?
This should probably take place right after the party.
(There could also be some Aimee/Alex stuff around here, but I'm not sure. Like, Kati has a brief phone conversation with Alex in which they talk about how their seductions are progressing. So Aimee is not present, it is only Kati and Alex, but Alex is talking about how difficult it's being to get a photograph of her.)
Anyway, this is a direct retaliation of sorts on the part of Dylan to Hallie's treatment of him. Dylan has just attempted to find Hallie, but has run across Nick instead (who, unbeknownst to him, was with Hallie!).
Dylan probably tries to call Hallie one more time, but we cut to Hallie (sitting in her room maybe), just staring at the phone and letting it ring, with a mournful expression on her face, and also she's probably pretty tired, since it's quite late at night.
So Dylan goes back to the party (Nick gives him a ride). And there's this point at which he's sort of staring at nothing and just sitting there. Kati sees him, calls Alex and tells him that she'll probably have one more photo by the time the night's over. Then she (Kati) comes up to Dylan and sits right next to him and they start talking, and before you know it...
The scene ends before anything terribly indiscreet happens on camera, but you sort of can tell where it's headed...
