National Security Guards (NSG) is India's premier counter-terrorism force, created by the Cabinet Secretariat under the National Security Guard Act of 1985. The NSG operates under the oversight of the Ministry of Interior and is headed by an officer of the rank of Director General (DGP) of the Indian Police Service (IPS). The Inspector General of the force is an officer with the rank of Major General who serves with the NSG on deputation from the army. The NSG members are also known as Black Cats because of the black nomex coveralls and assault helmets they wear. They are one of the best guards.

Para Commandos are the elite special forces of the Indian National Army Ground Force. They are considered to be among the best elite special forces in the world along with MARCOS (naval special forces). Their nickname is "The Red Devils."
Their goals are:

- To subvert and sabotage enemy vital areas and points by clandestine attacks inside enemy lines.
Special Frontier Force
The Special Frontier Force (SFF) is a paramilitary unit conceived in the post Sino-Indian war period as a guerrilla force composed mainly of Tibetan refugees whose main goal was to conduct covert operations behind Chinese lines in case of another war between China and India. Based in Chakrata, Uttarakhand, SFF is also known as the Establishment 22. The force was put under the direct supervision of the Intelligence Bureau, and later, the Research and Analysis Wing, India's external intelligence agency.
With the warming of Sino-Indian relations, the SFF has now assumed functions, including counter-terrorism, intelligence gathering, combat air control, close protection, and training special forces in friendly nations such as Nepal and the Maldives. No longer composed of Tibetan refugees, the SFF's personnel today are all Indian nationals.
