Personal
Name: L'aranise "Lara" Vyrli
Alias:: Red
Race: Elven
Gender: Female
Age: 75
Alignment: Rather fluid morality. Generally speaking, True Neutral.
Deity: Nonpracticing
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Red
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 117 lbs
Build: Thin and wiry.
General Appearance: At a glance Lara is a fairly average elven woman, though a few factors (height, less-pronounced ears, some of her facial features) lend her an appearance very similar to a rather thin human. While running she tends to drape herself in loose and baggy clothing, as well as apply nanopaste to further hide her elven features. Outside of runs, her wardrobe varies intensely. The bulk of it tends to give her room to breathe - though not nearly to the level of her runner clothing.
Personality: (Do later)
History
Throughout history there's always been one dick move that the less-scrupulous will employ that is tried, true, and annoyingly effective: tykebombs. Whether they're literally strapped to a landmine, or trained to be as disarming as possible until they lace a dagger through an adult's neck, the usage of children as tools of murder appears often - both in media and in reality.
L'aranise was one of those unfortunate tykes. An orphan, no known family, not even a name, she was gobbled up by a generic nameless shadowy underworld group and made put time and effort into training until killing a person was as natural as breathing for her. Between mental conditioning, intensive training, and even alteration on the genetic level she wasn't a child anymore, she wasn't even a sentient being; she was just a tool for murder. Put outward on multiple assassination missions from an age most would be hard-pressed to ride a bicycle at, Lara was an effective murderess for almost half a decade. A chain of unsolved murders that went on until she was hired out and sent to kill Marjannus Vyrli, the head of a budding "crime group" in Blacot. A bit smarter, a bit more perceptive, and a bit quicker on the draw than most, he managed to -not- die as well as restrain the kid.
Driven by a mixture of sympathy and (more pragmatically) knowing a good tool when he saw one, he essentially "reprogrammed" and adopted the brat. In one fell swoop she had a name, a family and soon even the seeds of an actual personality begining to sprout.
And, despite the early bumps in the relationship, it proved fulfilling for both parties. Marjannus and L'aranise (name affectionately shortened to "Lara") are probably closer than some biological families are, and this extends to Marjannus's cohorts and comrades as well. She cares for them all enough that eventually Lara would pick up her gorier skills to help them keep the order in their territory, a choice he was not too pleased with, but one he allowed in the end.
That's the abridged version of it, anyway. As for why she's in this group of runners? Whim. Clearance was given, and it looked like some tidy profit to be made on the side for little fuss. Time will tell how accurate that assessment is. She'll still do her usual job as a musician, but the groups' on a bit of a slow schedule as of late. And as far as terrorizing the nearby ruffians goes -- hell, some of those jobs might find their way to the new group.
