Concept: He was born in 1866 in Hasselt, Belgium as Jonathan Vereeck, the son of Hendrik Vereeck, a well-known engineer working for the steel industry, and his wife Helena Rogiers. At the age of 6, the family moved to Japan where Hendrik had taken up a function as industrial advisor for the Japanese government.

Jonathan spent most of his mortal life in Japan studying various martial arts as kenjutsu, judo, karate and daito ryu aiki jutsu. At the age of 56, he was sent back to Europe by his sensei to start spreading the Daito Ryu style. Jonathan, who by then had taken the name Takeda Kyuzo, ended up in France and started a modest dojo teaching Daito Ryu and kenjutsu.

After a martial arts demonstration in Paris in 1922 he was approached to teach private lessons during the night to Amélie Nocquet who paid handsomely for this eccentric request. Amélie turned out to be a Daeva Invictus who embraced Takeda and introduced him to the Danse Macabre.

Takeda has served the Invictus in Paris as a soldier for many years. In 1939 at the outbreak of World War II, Takeda traveled to London where he joined the Order of the Silver Dragons. He returned to France after D-day in 1944 to coordinate a chapter of the Maquis.

In 1950 he petitioned for membership in the Most Honorable Order of the Thorned Wreath and was accepted the same year. The knighthood's ideals of courage, honor, servitude and humility had a great influence on his decision to become a member as those same ideals were taught to him by his first sensei in Japan, Sakakibara Kenkichi, who was a former samurai.

Recently, Takeda has returned to his hometown of Hasselt in Belgium where he was introduced to Prince de Mérode and his loyal subjects of Limburg.
