[edit] Charms

[edit] Awareness

    • Prior Warning: Make reflexive Wits+Awareness roll, success protects against unexpected attacks. 6m.

[edit] Dodge

    • Absence: As the Solar Dodge charm "Shadow Over Water" (see Exalted 2e core). 2m.
    • Duck Fate: Perfect dodge, 10m.
    • Trouble Reduction Strategy: Protect allies with own Dodge charms, 5m.

[edit] Craft

    • Mending Warped Designs: Heal damage to one's destiny made by creatures outside fate. 5m.

[edit] Performance

    • Perfection in Life: Roll Charisma+Perf against MDV. Upon success, all witnesses of the Sidereal's performance gain a point of temp WP. 5m. Scenelong.
    • Defense of Shining Joy: Raise Dodge DV by adding Performance to Dodge in calculation. (Example: Adamant Silver normally has a base DV of 5 as per the rules. Adding her Performance 3 to her Dodge 5 and Dexterity 5 and then making the usual calculation gives her a DV of 7 for the scene.) 5m, 1wp. [Spd 5, DV -1]

[edit] Investigation

    • Auspicious Prospects for Journeys: Ask the pattern spiders/ST about the destiny of a subject. 1m.

[edit] Larceny

    • 1st Larceny Excellency: Diceadder, up to permanent Essence, 2m per die. Alternatively, acts as a penalty buyoff for Sids with no dice cap.
    • Name-Pilfering Practice: On a successful Man+Larceny roll, the Sidereal can steal someone's name, and keep it as long as the Charm is active. 5m.
    • Dream Confiscation Approach: Wits+Larceny at diff of victim's Essence to steal their dreams. For duration, victim cannot regain WP normally. Using this against Fair Folk inflicts aggravated damage up to the Sidereal's permanent Essence. Can always channel Temperance with this Charm. 6m, 1wp.
    • Masque of the Uncanny [Fair Folk]: Can disguise oneself as a single creature outside fate for a scene. Additional forms cost 2XP each. 7m, 1wp.

[edit] Integrity

    • Heroic Essence Replenishment [Valor/Presence]: Virtue-aligned essence replenishment. When channeling Valor, Adamant receives 10m back in her pool. Permanent, no cost.
    • 3rd Integrity Excellency: Reroll original roll, take the higher of the two successes. Cannot combo with other Excellencies or charms.

[edit] Resistance

    • Water and Fire Treaty: Complete protection against one element for a scene. 5m, 1wp, 1 bashing HL. [Spd 5, DV -1]
    • Someone Else's Destiny: Reflexive activation when poisoned/drugged; transfer effect to an opponent upon successful lethal damage-dealing attack. 4m.
    • Optimistic Security Practice: Increase all soak, including aggravated, by permanent Essence for one scene. [Spd 5, DV -1]

[edit] Melee

    • Harmony of Blows: Extra Action charm. Allows two free attacks (Archery/Thrown/Melee/MA), regardless of weapon rate. 8m.
    • Orchestration of Mirrored Fates: Counterattack. Step 9 reflexive. 4m.
    • Smiling at the Damned: Halve the post-soak damage on successful attack, but turn it aggravated. 5m.
    • Impeding the Flow: Step 2 Reflexive parry. 3m.
    • Serenity in Blood: As Impeding the Flow, except it is a perfect parry (including against those keyworded unblockable). For unexpected attacks, roll Per+Melee at difficulty 3. 5m, 1wp.
    • Meditation on War: Can cancel -1 penalty on self. Is expressly comboable. 1m per penalty buyoff.
    • Perfection of the Visionary Warrior: Prayer strip, scenelong. PDV doubles, no onslaught penalty. One reflexive extra attack per action. 10m, 1wp, 1 lethal HL. [Spd 5, DV -1]

[edit] Athletics

    • 1st Athletics Excellency: Diceadder, up to permanent Essence, 2m per die. Alternatively, acts as a penalty buyoff for Sids with no dice cap.

[edit] Martial Arts

    • 2nd Martial Arts Excellency: Success buyer. As Excellency rules in core.
    • Auspicious Martial Arts Excellency: Target reducer, to a maximum of 4. 1m per point of reduction. An "auspicious success" can spend 10m and 1wp to turn full dice pool into successes.

[edit] Lunar Hero Style

The Sidereal known as Adamant Silver learned the classic fighting style of the Lunar Exalted at the feet of a No-Moon who mentored her in the ways of the Winding Path, Moonstone Ibis. While many of the charms would not have any immediately obvious benefits for a Sidereal and the form cannot be used with her paired starmetal chain-swords, the form weapon is not required for basic charms, and there are several benefits for her allies implicit in this style.

  • Foot-Trapping Counter: Victim must pass a Dex+Athletics roll at a difficulty of Adamant's Essence. On a failure, she can prevent escape. Expressly works against illusion-based dodges. 2m.
  • Rabid Beast Attitude: Reduces all wound penalties by 1 for Adamant's permanent Essence in actions. 1m.
  • Thousand Claw Infliction: All Rate values treated as infinite for one action. Reflexive and comboable. 1m.
  • Lunar Hero Form: Scenelong, Form. Reduce DV penalties from onslaught by 1, coordinated attacks by 2. Attacks often catch people from behind while she's before them, or strikes through scenery. Double dice bonus for stunts of this nature. 6m.
  • Armor-Rending Claw Fist: Targets a foe's armor. Soak from armor reduces raw damage, which reduces the attack's dice to zero. Roll unsoaked damage normally; each level remaining in Step 10 reduces armor's bashing and lethal soak. Once the armor soak drops to zero, Adamant may reduce the target's natural soak - each success on damage roll reduces the target's effective Stamina by 1. 4m.
  • Crouching Tiger Stance: All attacks lose 2 dice. When Adamant parries any close combat attack, she may reflexively counterattack at no additional cost. 4m.
  • Den Mother Method: Adamant can add half her Dexterity, rounding up, to a target ally's DV against incoming attack. 2m.
  • Running Through The Herd: Roll Dex+Athletics at a diff of attacker's Perception. Success redirects the attack with all successes and effects at another valid target of Adamant's choice. 4m, 1wp. Step 2 Reflexive.
  • Terrible Wolverine Onslaught: Move/Dash actions triple in distance, one automatic success to all Dex-based actions, each action must attempt 3 MA attacks and one non-attack flurry, and suffers one level of lethal damage. Roll WP at difficulty of Valor to take a non-attack action without ending the charm. 5m, 1wp, 1+ lethal health level.

[edit] Prismatic Arrangement of Creation Style

While considered a "low-level" Sidereal Martial Art by the Sidereal community itself, PAoC is still extremely powerful, and quite deadly when put to proper use. Adamant uses it in tandem with Lunar Hero Style and her regular Melee attack. While she only possesses the first form of the style yet and she is not exactly an insurmountable threat in a battle populated by high-Essence Exalted, the Chosen of Journeys herself is still a very impressive threat for such a young woman.

  • Deadly Starmetal Offense: For five actions, Adamant turns her fingernails into starmetal claws. The stats for these are listed above. Can parry lethal and ranged attacks without stunting. All parries and attacks with this Charm are treated as unarmed. 5m.
  • Orichalcum Sheathing Stance: Adamant adds 12L/12B to soak. Is expressly stackable due to its magical properties. 5m, 1wp.
  • Flickering Moonsilver Approach: Adamant can make unarmed MA attacks against anyone within (her Essence x 5) yards. Any target of this attack subtracts Adamant's Martial Arts score from his or her DV. (Which means with the form up, anyone she attacks is automatically at a DV -5 penalty. >:3)
  • Five Jade Fury: For ten motes, Adamant gains one of these benefits per attack:
    • Green Jade: Can inflict either bashing or lethal at her choice.
    • White Jade: Supplements damage rolls with one autosuccess for every three dice rolled (rounded up).
    • Black Jade: Supplements attack rolls with one autosuccess for every three dice rolled (rounded up).
    • Blue Jade: One-yard knockback per level of damage inflicted.
    • Red Jade: Adds 3 die to JB roll or reduces Speed by one tick to a minimum of 1.
  • Four Magical Materials Form: Continuous benefits of all above Charms, plus automatic conversion of lethal to bashing unless the attack can explicitly damage one of the five magical materials. 15m.

[edit] Personal Information

[edit] Appearance

A tall woman, lithe and graceful and athletic, with white-lashed amber eyes that are filled with minute yellow flecks of color like a starry night sky. Perhaps Adamant's most striking feature is her snowy white skin: utterly lacking in any pigmentation at all and marked at various points with moonsilver tattoos. Her platinum blonde hair is streaked with glittering silver in places, and aside from the tiny smattering of freckles over the bridge of her nose she almost seems to have no color at all. If not for her star-filled eyes and freckles, most would mistake her for an albino. Indeed, in the South she has been mistaken for a "civilized" Dune Person once or twice, and must use resistance charms to travel without layers of gauze to shield her skin from the sun.

Most often Adamant prefers simple wear and as little of it as possible, not caring to have her mobility diminished (and she also enjoys making the primary faction activists in Yu-Shan uncomfortable with her open display of advocacy for the Lunar Exalted). When she must dress formally she wears white or saffron-colored silks, along with the gossamer assumption artifact that she can shape into any article of clothing she desires - a gift from a defeated cataphract.

[edit] History

Very few people know about Adamant's history pre-Exaltation and she is just fine with that. She was once a shy, dutiful mortal Dynast named Ledaal Kebok Althenia, the fourth of five daughters and the only one of her sisters who failed to Exalt as one of the Dragon-Blooded. Her parents scorned her due to this and chose to wed her to a man a good forty years her senior. While Sesus Maraka was a kind man, he too was mortal, and died of a sudden heart attack a mere two months after their wedding. Instead of returning to her family home in Tuchara, Althenia chose to turn her back on it all and do what she'd always wanted to do: change herself. In an effort to do this, she cut her hair, changed her name, and joined the Vermilion Legion under General Tepet Tilis Mallon.

The Legion was overstaffed and ill-equipped, and full of rough people, but Althenia felt more at home with these ruffians than in all her life as a Dynast and so grew to enjoy military life. Unfortunately it didn't last terribly long; her scouting fang was ambushed by the cannibalistic Varajtul tribe during a reconnaissance mission in the far North. The fang was cut to pieces, with a badly wounded Althenia the only survivor. Summoning the last of her strength she attempted to find her way back to the outpost, but was unaware of the frequency of Wyld storms in the area. In a matter of moments, a bank of freezing fog came upon her unawares. Most of the time these phenomena kill. Althenia was fortunate: the fog merely translocated her, hundreds of miles east from her last location and right into a Bordermarch. It was only her Exaltation during the attempted return journey to the Legion that saved her life, and even then, the ferocity of the Wyld storm left her skin and hair permanently frost-white.

She was discovered by a hermit who lived in a small cabin just on the northern rim of Creation, a strange man who treated her wounds and allowed her to stay. The man, Jonas Nighthunter, turned out to be a casteless Lunar - while he interacted casually with the Silver Pact, he maintained his distance by remaining on his own as a fur trapper scraping a living from the land. However, the Wyld Hunt came for him eventually, and Althenia herself was attacked as well when she inadvertently revealed herself to be Anathema also. Jonas had caught wind of the ambush and sent for help... but while the retrieval pack was able to spirit Althenia back into the Wyld, Jonas was seemingly lost.

There was much debate over what was to actually be done with her, but then it came to light that Althenia was a ronin Sidereal: that she had never been contacted by the Bureau, that she knew nothing of the Fivescore Fellowship or the history of the Lunars, or even what she was. It was argued by several Winding Path and Crossroads Society Lunars that she could be potentially useful, if they could only educate her themselves. If she was trained to be sympathetic to the Lunars' cause, there was no way she'd end up betraying them. Grudgingly the Silver Pact came to an agreement, and Althenia was handed over to a Shogunate-era No Moon named Moonstone Ibis for mentoring and "re-education."

Althenia became a loyal (if only grudgingly tolerated in some quarters) warrior of the Pact, dedicating herself to fighting the Fair Folk at Creation's borders and undergoing the form-fixing ritual taken by all Pact members. While Sidereals had no shapechanging abilities for the Wyld to warp it was thought best to give her some lasting protection against its effects. During the ritual, she discarded the last of her old self and took the deed-name given her as her true name: Adamant Silver, named for her appearance, for her deep amber-gold eyes, and for her sheer stubborn endurance.
