Basic Character Information
Entry Point
Concurrent with the events of the 'Gallifrey' Big Finish audio series; several years into Romana's Presidency.
Physical Description
Romana still bears the youthful, pixieish features of Princess Astra of Atrios, along with her long, straight blonde hair, high forehead and slender figure. Her duties as President keep her in the heavy, elaborate robes of a Time Lady most of the time, but when going offworld her wardrobe becomes far more casual -- revealing an inclination towards equestrian togs, school uniforms or sailor suits.
Personality
Romana 2 is focused, precise and demanding when it comes to issues, with a passion for the Right and What Must Be Done that is uncompromising. Her significant intellect is paired with a dry, biting wit that skewers pretention and pompousness. At the same time, this Romana has a great sense of fun and levity about her; her smile is wide and brilliant, and she seems most alive when actively in the midst of setting things to rights.
History
After assisting the Doctor in locating the Key to Time during her first incarnation, Romana voluntarily regenerated into the likeness of Princess Astra, in an effort to distance herself from a malevolent entity in the Time Lords' Matrix known as 'Pandora'. At the same time, the Doctor fitted the TARDIS with a randomizer circuit in an effort to elude the vengeance of the Black Guardian. During this incarnation, Romana was able to 'let her hair down' a bit and have some fun, but a summons back to Gallifrey made her all business once more. Still fearing the 'Pandora' presence, Romana decided to leave the Doctor and remain in E-Space (along with K-9 Mark II), working with the Tharil time-sensitive peoples to free them from slavers. Once this goal was completed, Romana returned to Gallifrey (with the aid of the Tharils' innate ability to move in time & space) and chose to fight 'Pandora' head-on...by running a successful bid to be elected President, which allowed her direct access to the Matrix. Her current aim is to revolutionize the politics of the stagnant, stodgily bureaucratic Time Lord culture. Romana has also been involved in the future-looking preparations for the Time War, which will involve a yet-unknown Adversary. The War has not yet begun, but it's only a matter of time...

- Has extremely mixed feelings about her departure from the Doctor's company -- in her hearts, she wished that she could have stayed with him, but felt that Gallifrey & Pandora would have caught up with her if she remained
- Trusts almost nobody on Gallifrey, with the exception of Leela & K-9
