Eight years have passed for Rose since her Doctor (Ten, Alt 4) left her and Mickey on the spaceship to save Reinette from the clockwork androids.
Rose took Mickey back in the TARDIS, activated Emergency Program One and returned to Earth. There, she ended up working for Torchwood and eventually running her own unit.
