+ | Madley is on the shorter side for her age, fairly slim and gangly and very unconcerned with her apperance. Her clothes are usually rumpled, looking as if she just rolled out of bed - which most of the time she has. When working, she prefers trousers, usually "borrowed" from boys and too big, riding low on her hips and falling to cover her shoes. She wears her button up shirt with the top two buttons undone and a tie loosely knotted about her neck. The rest of her wardrobe consists of jeans and a collared tee or tank top covered by a button up shirt. She rarely wears skirts but is not above doing so, layering herself in flowing fabrics and scarves and kohling under her eyes just to shake up her friends. Experimentation of all sorts is something Madley firmly believes in, as such her hair makes frequent changes in colour. She's been a red head, a blonde, a brunette, and it's not true. Blondes don't have more fun.

Confused? So is she, but she'll to sort things out eventually. She likes people and wants to get along well with everybody, but is uncomfortable with intimacy; so she has lots of acquaintances but few close friends. She has the ability to laugh at most any situation.
+ | |||
+ | Madley tends to be very laid-back, taking things as they come. She doesn't see the point in worrying about the future or regretting the past. Things happen, you deal, and you move on. She sees the effect worry has on her peers, shutting them away from the world, and doesn't want that to happen to her. She's a risk taker, but more for the mere fact that she doesn't think about the consequences rather than getting off on it.
+ | |||
+ | She's the headstrong type that acts first and then considers the actions later, usually while she's sitting in detention, or waiting for a friend to bail her from the drunk tank, with nothing else to think about. Most of her casual acquaintances think of her as having an endless source of energy but her close friends (small as they are in number) know well enough to leave the girl alone when she needs her space.
+ | |||
+ | Wry Laura has a great sense of humour, or at least thinks she does. It's one of her greatest addictions and defenses however. Though she's often sarcastic, her humour tends to run towards the self-depreciating, and so dry you have to think twice to realise it's actually a joke.
+ | |||
+ | Madley is a flirtatious charmer, oozing confidence, crackling sexual energy and working her charm on just about anyone that passes her way. She's more than aware of how her attentions can be taken and uses that knowledge to her advantage, not above flashing a little skin to get her way. This can backfire however and there's been more than one time she's put herself in the awkward situation of letting someone down gently.

Laura was born to Rachael Prentice and John Madley on 22 January, 1983, twelve years after their first daughter, Melanie Louise and five years before their final child, Joanna Beatrice.
Trying to get noticed while Melanie was making Prefect and Head Girl and Jo taking her first steps, Laura's accomplishments were hard to take notice of. She did well in her studies, was fairly cheerful, although loud and prone to hyperactivity. Of the three sisters, Laura was the most inquisitive, the one most likely to get stuck up a tree, break a bone or get chased inside by bees. She liked dresses, twirling in them so that the skirt poofed out to the sides, cats and dogs and vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles.
The winter after she turned nine, while Melanie and her fiance Dan planned their wedding, Laura's mood drastically changed. No longer the bright, cheery child she once was, she became sullen, moody and withdrawn. Rachael and John chalked it up to a mixture of jealousy, fear of change and her impending adolescence and decided to give her time to get it out of her system. She didn't, and by the time she turned eleven, she'd already smoked her first cigarette, drank her first lager and been caught with a boy from down the street.
Rachael and John gave Laura time, deciding that even if they had to wait until those tumultuous teenage years were over, they were willing and made sure she was aware of their unconditional love. This only seemed to incense Madley more, and she brought her anger to school, fighting not only with her house and classmates but upperclassmembers as well, marking her early on as trouble in the eyes of many of the teachers.
Time mellowed Madley, althought not by much and while her anger management issues have decreased, she has no problem setting down her bag and laying into someone if they step out of bounds.
When Madley graduated from school, Melanie and Dan surprised her with keys to her very own flat in Bayswater, signing on the lease, and paying the rent for her, leaving only power, phone and food bills to worry about.
Making a fairly comfortable living of her own, Laura refuses to spend her money frivolously, instead preferring to put much of it away "for a rainy day." Though getting out from under her sister and brother-in-law's thumb would be nice, it isn't exactly a terrible place to be, and isn't high on her priority list as such.
