Down Pole

The down pole is the name for the southern pole of Reach. Due to the fact that reach is tilted only 4 degrees on its axis, North and South roughly equate to up and down, so those conventions were used.

Climate

Due to the slight shift in axis, the down pole is slightly warmer than the Up Pole, and hence more friendly to colonists. Heat Drinkers appear in abundance, and the harvest of them is a common occupation of the colonists there. However, with abundant plant life comes abundant threats as well.
