Bio
Ten thousand years ago, Rekhariz was a soldier of the Seraphim Empire. He idolized Sahkandres and dreamed of serving under him. He got his wish when Tyranny was unleashed upon the world, and proved himself a competent leader in the 50-year campaign against the Demon Lord. Thus, when the foe went into hiding, Sahkandres left Khariz in command of the troops still stationed in Lagana. Rekhariz, however, disobeyed his orders and followed Sahkandres to Kelmar, where he saw Sahkandres and his men brutally slaughtered by Tyranny. Hope was lost... the war was lost... unless Rekhariz could do something truly amazing - unlock the True Form for the first time in centuries. By absorbing the energy of his fallen comrades, he did just that, and Tyranny was handily defeated. But that energy also carried with it the last memories of his brothers-in-arms, and those memories were all of horrible, unspeakable pain. Feeling their pain, Rekhariz let out a scream that it's said was heard around the world... this was the start of his descent into evil.
Having been unable to destroy Tyranny for good, Rekhariz imprisoned the demon in the Dark Crystal and appointed himself its guardian. He held the position for fifty years, and over those years, the evil within the crystal further corrupted Khariz... or perhaps Khariz was corrupting it... or both. In either case, the seal on the Demon Lord's prison weakened, and Rekhariz slipped further into darkness.
When he returned home, Rekhariz received a hero's welcome and was hailed as Khariz the Conqueror. He made good on that title by re-taking the territories the Empire had lost in the war. He then decided to run for election as Governor of the Empire. His opponent was Kharivas of Lagana, an idealistic young Seraphim who believed Seraphim and humans should be considered equal. Rekhariz had seen the evil of men - the men who summoned Tyranny as their last act of desperation - and harshly disagreed. However, Kharivas won the election and Rekhariz was forced to yield. But Khariz, knowing that the army was still on his side, led a coup that overthrew Kharivas after only ten days of rule.
Ultimately they were both thrown in prison. When the Seraphim on the surface all suddenly died out, whatever had happened to them managed to be avoided by those imprisoned in the Underworld. While Kharivas escaped his prison, the rest of the Seraphim did not, and they too slowly died as they lost all hope of rescue. Rekhariz absorbed their energy and used it to break out of his confinement. Though he was quite unstable already, Khariz's sanity was not at all helped by the fact that the prisoners' last thoughts were all of crushing despair.
Now bent on revenge, he wandered the Underworld, searching for a means to accomplish it. He would destroy humanity and remake the world, giving rebirth to the Seraphim. Finally he found what he'd been looking for - an army who, given the right reason, would follow him without question... The Clan of the Hammer. And then they were given their reason. The Dark Crystal had been destroyed, upsetting the balance of good and evil. For their wrongdoings, the Surface-dwellers would pay in blood... and that would only be the beginning.
Personality
Rekhariz is intimidating and ruthless. He utterly despises humans (and anyone who is not Seraphim... and for that matter, some Seraphim too) but knows better than to underestimate those who oppose him - a lesson hard-learned when Tyranny was summoned. Thus, he has carefully planned and orchestrated his revenge against humanity. As Secret of Kelmar begins, he has a large and loyal army at his disposal, the Clan of the Hammer, and two very powerful advisors, Vexx and Zira. Unfortunately those advisors are not quite as loyal as he would hope. Had the heroes of SoK been killed, either Vexx or Zira almost certainly would've stepped in to oppose the warlord instead.
History
Rekhariz actually came about before Kharivas (SoK), or at least his name was thought up before Rivas' was. As the main villain of Secret of Kelmar, Rekhariz was gradually developed from "evil warlord" to "not-so-evil cult leader" to "evil powerful ancient being masquerading as not-so-evil cult leader" ... so yeah.
