Bio

The Phoenix was once the ruler of the Gryphon Kingdom. He was powerful, wise, rich and handsome. He was also not a gryphon. Thus, the ever-xenophobic gryphons grew to despise him and eventually conspired to kill him.

The nearly-immortal Phoenix was not alarmed by this. In fact, he invited all of the would-be usurpers to his palace, with the promise that if anyone could kill him - and keep him dead - they would become the new Gryphon King.

Many blades cut his flesh, but his wounds healed. His bones were broken, but they quickly mended themselves. His heart was pierced, but it kept on beating. His head was chopped off ... and he simply picked it up, put it back on, and kept fighting.

The gryphons were demoralized. They knew they could not win.

But then one of them stepped forward. This was a cunning one. He was a powerful warlock who practiced dark, forbidden magic. He had discerned that The Phoenix was invulnerable because of his soul, not because of his body. Thus, he cast a spell that literally ripped The Phoenix's soul and body apart, and destroyed the King's now-powerless body, ensuring that he could never return to it.

This sounds like some ancient legend, but the real kicker is that this happened less than a hundred years ago, and that cunning warlock who became King was the grandfather of the current Gryphon King.

Some individuals, including Kharivas' adoptive father Jormund, believe that The Phoenix's soul is still "alive" and seeking a new host, which will most likely be an avian Otherkin with phoenix blood.

Personality

By all accounts, The Phoenix was valiant and fearless, and struck fear in the hearts of those who opposed him. He "died" nearly one hundred years ago, so there are few (if any) of his first-hand witnesses still alive. If the legends are to be believed though, he was an incredibly benevolent King and sought peace between Otherkin and humans.

History

Kharivas is a descendant of The Phoenix ... or is he? No one knows for sure. Nope, not even Raptor. But in any case, it's entirely possible that Kharivas and his sister will eventually be able to channel his spirit and, by extension, his powers.
