Otherkin are sentient, anthropomorphic animals. In Blood And Fire, they have evolved together with humans. While humans are more politically united and technologically advanced, the Otherkin have a definite advantage in numbers and physical strength.

There are four general types into which Otherkin species are divided. Furries, comprising most mammals; Featheries, comprising avians; Scalies - lizards, reptiles, and dragons; and Aquatics - aquatic mammals, fish, and others who dwell underwater. Aquatics are the rarest type. Cetaceans require a lot of moisture, and most often live near a shoreline. Fish and other water-dwellers require a special breathing apparatus to stay on dry land for any length of time.

The diet of an Otherkin is usually the same as the non-anthropomorphic variant of their species, although most can adapt themselves to different types of food, if they so choose. Most Dragons are omnivorous.

Government

There are nearly as many Otherkin nations as there are species. Most major nations are members of the Council of Otherkin, a ruling body which establishes laws and customs for all Otherkin and directs their forces during times of war.

As one might imagine, however, there is quite a lot of bickering amongst the various Otherkin nations and races. Some believe that they should assert their military dominance and conquer the humans. Others are neutral, or even seek peace with humanity. Perhaps unsurprisingly, most of the "war hawks" are predatory species, if not literally hawks, while the more peaceful Otherkin are generally herbivores.

Technology

Although human technology is available to them, most Otherkin prefer to keep it simple - most of their various societies limit themselves to medieval or Renaissance-level technology. Firearms are a rare sight, and automobiles and complicated electronics are practically nonexistant.
