We need more...

OSCAR WILDE GOGOGO --Xygagorra 22:37, 22 October 2006 (EDT)

Lawl, you can use {{Wilde}} now. --Dark Half 01:23, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

  • For those who don't know, use it like so: {{Wilde|what he said|what he talked about}}
    • I've now linked the link in {{Wilde}} to Uncyc, mainly because I hate red links. Hinoa 09:37, 23 October 2006 (EDT)
      • Or because your a whore. OHSNAP.--Adamjirra 19:12, 23 October 2006 (EDT)
        • What's wrong with being a whore, whore? —Hinoa (talk) 19:18, 23 October 2006 (EDT)
          • Absolutly nothing acually. --Adamjirra 21:59, 23 October 2006 (EDT)
            • Is being a pale imitation of what is admittantly brilliant site a good idea? Narth 17:45, 25 October 2006 (EDT)
              • If it works for GA in regards to RR, then it'll work for us in regards to Uncyclopedia. -- Talus 17:49, 25 October 2006 (EDT)
                • Well can't we at least quote someone else? Like your mum, or some communists? I mean seriously, why not just rename this "cheapknockoffopedia" it'd be more accurate then. Narth 14:44, 26 October 2006 (EDT)
                  • I like the Oscar Wilde thing. And there are some other quotes around. Just a few, but they're there. ~ Janus 15:48, 26 October 2006 (EDT)
                    • Anyway, if you don't like it, you're always welcome to add a different quote to your own articles, right? :) --Briddy 15:53, 26 October 2006 (EDT)

Setting up Policy

Okay, I have no idea what the fuck is going on. We seem to have three (four) admins that can't agree on where the hell this wiki is going. So let's try to figure this out. Everyone's welcome to put their two cents in. —Hinoa (talk) 20:05, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

Well, if we make it just RR-related stuff, it'll be smaller and less confusing, but it's also more likely to just fade out of existance after a couple weeks. If we do a mini Uncyc thing, we'll get a bunch of random things with no connection to RR, but it'll be larger, encourage people to stick around and contribute, and hell, we might even drawn in outsiders. :O ~ Janus 20:09, 24 October 2006 (EDT)
I'd still like it to be somewhat about RR, though. A general humor wiki would pretty much be reinventing the wheel. (And besides, I might go into Uncyc admin mode. That will not be pretty.) —Hinoa (talk) 20:27, 24 October 2006 (EDT)
I've been away today, sorry. Anyway. I think it should be mostly RR-related, because really, if you think about it, there is a LOT you could do up in relation to RR. If the occasional humor article pops in, I don't see a problem with it. But as long as we don't end up reinventing the wheel, as Hinoa says, I'm fine with a 75/25 mix. -- Talus 20:32, 24 October 2006 (EDT)
I'd even be happy with 60/40, just so long as the 40% at least follows the spirit of RR. —Hinoa (talk) 20:40, 24 October 2006 (EDT)
That's generally what I meant, really.--Talus 20:58, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

I think as a start we should focus on getting the basic stuff down. Try to contribute by bringing up old things we remember beyond the frong page. We don't need to make up junk and go Uncyc just yet, once we've established a base on what the RR really is, then we can start throwing shit around. Lizardboy 7:39, Octobor 24 2006 (CDT)

More origionality, I say!
I don't know if we should write articles exactly like you would find on uncyclopedia, because they've got it pretty much nailed down pat. I suggest we find some other way to be funny with articles. -Previous comment by User:Poppington; please sign your edits here.

Let's make like BoP and make them entirely out of pictures :D--TeeKayEff 20:45, 24 October 2006 (EDT)
Let's...not. —Hinoa (talk) 20:46, 24 October 2006 (EDT)
I'm just trying to help -____- --TeeKayEff 20:46, 24 October 2006 (EDT)
What the hell? You have to sign your name manually? ~poppington
Nah, just type four tildes (~ << those thingys) and it's done for you. —Hinoa (talk) 20:56, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

How about writing a To Do list, and fix things up? List all the Epic Fails, fix them, up, andcreate infastructure? The_Editable_Wiki

Hmm. Good idea! —Hinoa (talk) 20:56, 24 October 2006 (EDT)
...Isn't that why we tag things as epic fails or stubs? So we can click the "epic fail" or "stub" category and see what's listed there in need of fixing? That's what I'm doing with it anyway... -- Talus 20:58, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

On another note...

Our main page is a bit... suck. (No offense, Briddy.) I've taken the time to make a prototype main page here. Take a look and give me feedback. —Hinoa (talk) 21:34, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

No offense taken, it's just a place holder. Sexy prototype, by the way. --Briddy 21:40, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

I endorse improving our mainpage. We need more colors. Tew

Is we need featured articles and pictures? -Ratclaw 22:36, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

I'm currently using the QTE article as a placeholder for the FA. I don't think we need FPs.
Also, I've added background colors to the table cells, and regret doing so. See Mr. Peanut's island of white? That's why. —Hinoa (talk) 22:43, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

If no one says that this idea sucks within the next oh... 87 minutes, then that'll be the official main page. —Hinoa (talk) 13:28, 25 October 2006 (EDT)

A reccomendation: link to the "how to be funny and not just stupid" at uncyclopedia. --Kurian 23:49, 28 October 2006 (EDT)

EDIT: I put it up: How to be funny and not just stupid. LINK TO IT ON THE MAIN PAGE PLZ (Kurian 00:10, 29 October 2006 (EDT))

We should make our own policy instead of shamelessly ripping off Uncyc's. In short, no. —Hinoa (talk)
Okay, fine, but I'm leaving that there in case somebody wants it. (Kurian 18:49, 29 October 2006 (EST))

How do I fancy edit?

I don't know how to do things all fancy like, so I wantrs youse guys to tell me some editing tricks, you see? -- OH_NO_SHRUBS

Well, half the stuff I learned from looking at pages that had things I wanted to do on them, a bunch more from here and the rest from other peoples here. ~ Janus 23:12, 24 October 2006 (EDT)
There's also here if you want to do some reading. —Hinoa (talk) 23:13, 24 October 2006 (EDT)

Or you can just edit a page and keep previewing it to see if it works >.>; That worked for me...Lady Kirie Sometime in the afternoon, CST

I would like...

A template page.

A page listing the templates. If that is possible, please do. It might make life easier for me. Might. -Ratclaw 20:56, 25 October 2006 (EDT)

Agree. More user-friendly. Like cereal that comes with milk. --Barnacle Ed 23:54, 25 October 2006 (EDT)
Well, you can go the changes page and sort by templates... ~ Janus 22:03, 29 October 2006 (EST)

Ksumoe did us the honors of creating the page. I've since added it to the project namespace; it can be found at Project:Templates. Be sure to thank him when you get the chance. —Hinoa (talk) 15:11, 11 November 2006 (EST)

Yeah... I'm cool like that... ^_^ -Ksumoe 21:39, 11 November 2006 (EST)

And I have no humility . Humble is not in my vocabulary! -Ksumoe 09:27, 12 November 2006 (EST)

Speaking of which

RR needs more templates. Badly. (Kurian 23:59, 28 October 2006 (EDT))

A proposition that will likely get me punched in the face

I have discovered a free webhosting service on the interwebs that is mySQL and PHP compatible and that has no ads. Now, you may not understand what I just said, but you might understand this: that technobabble above means that we can host this wiki "ourselves." I decided to see what it took to sign up, and discovered in addition to that, if we already have a domain name, we can host it at that domain name.

As I recall, http://rrwiki.net redirects here.

Now, what does this mean? It means that we can have more complex features, such as adding namespaces (such as Randomramblings:). It also means that, with Black Mage's agreement, we can actually have this wiki at rrwiki.net, instead of having that be a redirect to here. Also, those of us who were trying to edit the Bill Cosby link to WP on Pokémon may remember getting a very strange message involving the sysadmin claiming it was pr0n. That, and the occasional errors when creating redirects, should be removed.

Of course, this means we'll have to move the wiki. There is a way to move all the articles without losing any contributions.

But what do you all think about this?—Hinoa (talk) 16:24, 26 October 2006 (EDT)

So, a BETTAR wiki without having to re-create it? Show us this site you claim is better than sliced bread.~ Tew

The hosting service is called 4000webs.com. I have to set up the site first, though, and I'd rather wait until a decision was made to do so. —Hinoa (talk) 19:37, 26 October 2006 (EDT)
I'm all for this idea. (stupid sysadmin...) ~ Janus 19:44, 26 October 2006 (EDT)
Sure, I'm in to. This is actually turning out rather interesting; it'd be nice to see where we could go with it. LadyKirie 09:58, 27 October 2006 (EDT)
For: Sounds like a good idea to me, besides, that message from the templatifying of links is quite annoying.--Dark Half 21:55, 27 October 2006 (EDT)
*punches Hinoa in the face* >.> Oh, it's a good idea. I just wanted to punch Hinoa for no real reason, that's all. :) --Briddy 22:20, 27 October 2006 (EDT)

User:BlackMage I'm WILLY ARM. Send me an IM and we'll talk about this hosting stuff. You won't be able to get the password for my godaddy account, but I'm sure we can work something out.

What service is that on? —Hinoa (talk) 23:13, 1 November 2006 (EST)
Sooo...what's the status of this idea? ~ Janus 02:04, 4 November 2006 (EST)
Yeah... moe want'um to know. I'm surprised that they can offer all that for free. -Ksumoe 09:33, 12 November 2006 (EST)

Revise Redis- Mastur- REVERTING Pages

Are regular members not allowed to revert pages? —ksumoe (talkcontrib) 16:03, 15 November 2006 (EST)

Now, where does it say that? —Hinoa (talk) 20:26, 16 November 2006 (EST)
Sorry, I'm a dumbass. It helps to read the help page when you have a problem! —ksumoe (talkcontrib) 21:02, 16 November 2006 (EST)

Operation Gavel

Mentioned above is a thought about moving the wiki to another location. Well, after roughly a week of cursing at my monitor because things wouldn't work together, I have set up a wiki on our own domain, rr-wiki.net. Therefore, as of midnight tonight, no further edits will be allowed so I can export the wiki pages without interference. Briddy, Crapstorm, and Talus, you will get auto-sysop there when you register; Briddy will also get 'crat. Comments go below. —Hinoa (talk) 19:14, 18 November 2006 (EST)

Domain name! Right now http://www.rrwiki.net redirects to here... will it redirect to the new site too? —ksumoe (talkcontrib) 19:19, 18 November 2006 (EST)
Black Mage will have to manually reconfigure it to do so. —Hinoa (talk) 19:58, 18 November 2006 (EST)
