The brainchild of Greg Ginn, Black Flag, was a heavy influence on hardcore punk. Black Flag formed in 1976 under the name Panic with Greg Ginn and Keith Morris as the only consistent members. After finding Chuck Dukowski and Brian Migdol to round out the line-up, the changed their name to Black Flag.

[edit] The Early Years
The band played their first gig as Black Flag in 1979. After inciting a riot at one of their shows, Keith Morris left due to "creative differences". He would later form the Circle Jerks. A fan named Ron Reyes stepped in as the next vocalist for the a few months, but quit during a show in Los Angeles. Dez Cadena quickly took Reyes' spot. He recorded Six Pack and Louie Louie with the band before he decided he no longer wanted to sing. He took up rhythm guitar when Henry Rollins joined.
