1M NaOH
From Protists
How to make 1M NaOH:
- The equation for molarity is:
Molarity= (x grams/ atomic mass) x (1/ # Liters) or, x grams = (1M)(atomic mass)(Liters)
- In this case, the atomic mass of NaOH=40 and the molarity=1
- So, if you are making 200mL of 1M NaOH:
x = (1M)(40)(.2L) = 8g NaOH
- Now that you've down the math (continuing with values from example):
1. Fill up container with 200mL of DI water 2. Weigh out 8g of NaOH 3. Add NaOH to container and mix well
