Soil Water Extract Medium Notes
Use this when we need to see the loricate genera (i.e. Trachelomonas and Strombomonas) with their characteristic normal-looking loricas for light or electron microscopy. It is not a defined media because the soil used varies depending on where it was collected. The current soil in our lab happens to be from Pat Brown's parents' backyard in Tennessee.
