For those going camping this May Long weekend.

Contents

Where we're going

We are going to the camping spot that some of us stayed at on September long, last year. Dustin's been there a few times too and it is marked on his map [here]

Because the camping site is on a peninsula, we'll need to park our cars and canoe the rest of the way. That distance is about 45min, says last year's campers.

Who's going

So far, these people are confirmed:

  1. Brendan
  2. Kristyn
  3. Allison
  4. Jere
  5. Jake
  6. Alex
  7. Mark Peters

These people have shown interest:

  • Matt Benedet - He may be writing a test that would keep him from camping. We have yet to see.
  • Jennesa Dyck - She may be too busy with work that weekend

Vehicles

These vehicles have been offered:(and tentative Placing of People)

  1. Allison's car
    1. Allison
    2. Jake
  2. Alex's car
    1. Alex
    2. Kristyn
    3. Mark
  3. Brendan's car
    1. Brendan
    2. Jennesa - if she comes
    3. Jere

Canoes (and other miscellaneous gear)

These are our available canoes:

  1. Alex's canoe
  2.  ???

Allison: I think we're going to have to rent them at Rushing River again. This may pose a problem if it closes early

Rushing River Store
PH: 807-548-8875

Brendan: Is there a designated person planning to call that number?

Kristyn: My parents bought a big house with many closets, lofts, and storage spaces, knowing their kids would frequently return home to freeload. If I can't find my three-man tent in all these storage options, is anyone else bringing a large enough one to let me cuddle with them?

Alex: We have an extra tent at our house, so if you want it, its yours. unless you want somebody to cuddle with, then there is always room in my tent ;)

Allison: Would someone who has a landline please call and reserve some canoes?

Allison: Since we're going to have to put all our gear into canoes, we should make sure we're not bringing more tents than we need. Also, there were really only a few decent places to put tents as most of the area is sloped.

Schedule

Outgoing

We want to leave on Friday.

Allison: I could meet you guys at the PetroCanada that's just past the perimeter. I could be there by about 5pm. I am available to pack up my car after 9:45pm on Thursday.

Kristyn: I can be in Winnipeg any time on friday. if others have that day off, I can load up during the day with them. if necessary I can even be in Winnipeg very late thursday evening (try 10:30 or 11:00).

Alex: i want to be out by 5, mainly because of daylight, if we leave any later, i think we maybe paddling/ setting up in the dark and i really don't want to do that. get time off if you have to, even hitting that road in the dark could be a problem

Brendan: I can leave any time on Friday. I would like to leave as early as noon, if possible.

Please write how early you can leave.

  1. Brendan - entire day off
  2. Kristyn - entire day off. time is no object.
  3. Allison - 5:00 (at Petro Canada) - this means that the rest of you will have to leave earlier than 5
  4. Jere - 5:00
  5. Jake - 5:00
  6. Alex - 5:00
  7. Jennesa - ?
  8. Mark Peters - ?
Allison: Are we camping at the spot that requires an hour-long (ish... I don't remember) canoe trip? That might pose a small problem, given the amount of daylight. I don't know if we'd find the place if we had to paddle across the lake in the dark. Also, now that there are potentially 9 of us, I'm not sure there'll be room for all the tents at that smaller camping spot. There were really only two good flat locations for tents. I totally call the one Jake and I had last time!

Brendan: Now I know where we're going [Wiki updated]

Incoming

When do we want to leave? Monday afternoon? Monday at noon? Monday morning?

I don't need to be at work again until sometime on wednesday. I wonder if you guys believe me when I tell you I'm gainfully employed. - Kristyn

Allison: I don't care when we leave. I need to work on Tuesday, so as long as we're back before then, I'm good.
