RikMach (9:43:31 PM): *Nods* Lemme read up, and I'll add inputs and insights, if I have any. DarkheartO1 (9:43:41 PM): They CAN be a go-between for two? DarkheartO1 (9:43:48 PM): So that hey carry *their* child? DarkheartO1 (9:43:53 PM): Or is it just one + them? RikMach (9:45:34 PM): Personally, I favor the idea that they *can* aid a family that's normally incompatible in having a child- either one of two ways- RikMach (9:46:19 PM): 1) Though interaction with both parties involved, they can take in both their DNA, and become pregnant with their child- the miracle of Ditto allowing them to meld the otherwise disparate genes. RikMach (9:47:14 PM): 2) They can interact with the male first, ("Take in their DNA") then the female (Give them the ditto-altered sperm) and make them highly-likely to get pregnant with the father's child. RikMach (9:48:19 PM): The first method can also create children for male-male or female-female couples witht he Ditto getting pregnant with the child, and a vaiant of the later can impregnate one (or both) of female-female couples with the other's DNA. RikMach (9:49:46 PM): Or various combinations thereforeof, depending on how eager the family is to have kids, how much insurance they want to have kids, and how much they'll pay- generally, the ditto carrying a child to term is more expensive, since it occupies the Ditto's highly valueable reproductive space for several months. RikMach (9:50:59 PM): There's also medical techniques using extracted Ditto DNA, but those have lower success rates that, you know, someone conciously controlling it. RikMach (9:51:01 PM): What do you think? DarkheartO1 (9:52:47 PM): Intriguing. RikMach (10:00:44 PM): Basically, the concept is they since they have such utter concious mastery over their own DNA, they ability to manipulate others when they take it into themselves. Also, as noted, sex isn't actually neccessary, but it makes their jobs a whole fucking lot easier, since they get the information in a pre-made, ready-to-use for combinations. With males, technically, they just need the sperm, but with the female, they *need* to make rather... intrusive methods of extractions if they're extracting or implanting (Hypothetically, they could extrude the altered sperm and go for normal artificial insemination, but that makes the sperm slightly less viable- again, it depends on the client's level of comfort). So they tend to A) not mention that sex with the males isn't needed- that way there's no inequality between the partners, B) do the implanting during coitus so any discomfort is masked, and C) tend to do both partners as the same time, so they feel included and together int eh act, and D) make it *highly* ritualized and over a long period of time of interaction with both in the couple, so they feel more comforted by it. RikMach (10:00:55 PM): but that's professionals- some are less ethical, want a quick buck, etc. RikMach (10:02:59 PM): Also, getting down to ghosts- Hmmm, lemme read this in more depth. DarkheartO1 (10:04:02 PM): A lot of it is yours. DarkheartO1 (10:04:08 PM): Condensed, for the most part. DarkheartO1 (10:04:21 PM): Towers is, natch, all me. :P RikMach (10:04:35 PM): It also doesn't seem to discuss the ghost world. DarkheartO1 (10:04:48 PM): Yeah, that's the thing. DarkheartO1 (10:04:53 PM): I'm not aware of how to approach. DarkheartO1 (10:04:57 PM): That, even. DarkheartO1 (10:05:03 PM): Hence why I waited for you. DarkheartO1 (10:07:16 PM): Since it seems to be something you and C only really know about RikMach (10:07:28 PM): Hmmm. the basic concept is that ghosts, while alive in thier own fashion, aren't quite of this world- they're intimatelly linked to death, and are "Pulled" int he direction of where dead things go- wherever that is. They don't know, because they can't go there, because they're not really dead. However, they *can* go partially there, in a sort of "Shadow" of the world. Many ghosts, feeling detached from teh living, started building thier own society and culture there. DarkheartO1 (10:09:40 PM): Anything more to it? RikMach (10:11:15 PM): Well, its a whole world, so yes, but anything specific you want to know about it? RikMach (10:14:04 PM): Also, nothing on the Safari Zone? RikMach (10:18:18 PM): btw, I do like the cleanup job and simplifications so far. DarkheartO1 (10:18:39 PM): Yeah DarkheartO1 (10:18:44 PM): Taking a break. x_x DarkheartO1 (10:18:52 PM): Well, gimme what you imagine for it. DarkheartO1 (10:19:03 PM): The Other Side, and I'll spruce it up real nice. RikMach (10:21:22 PM): Okay. I imagine it as a world in constant twilight- there's always light, enough to read by, but not enough to see too far- this is provided by the oplescent sphere that stays fixed in the sky- In fact, no matter where you go, its relative position to you doesn't seem to move. This sphere is refered to as the ghosts as "Giratina's Eye". RikMach (10:24:11 PM): The ghosts tend to revere Giratina, varied from religious veneration to cautious respect of a being much stronger than oneself- but don't believe the spirit-dragon dwells with them in the ghost world- they believe he has his own realm, and the sphere is the sky is him/her/it watching over them. RikMach (10:26:08 PM): The real world is faintly visible there, but only dimly, like a faint color shadow- intangible as a shadow as well. Largelly, anything physical that exists was brought there by the ghosts, or on rarer occasion, either conglomeration of shadow take solid form, or sometimes things just "Fall" into the shadow world by themselves. RikMach (10:29:15 PM): Ghost society is interesting- as they don't really have physical needs, they tend to form arcane social, political, and economic structures, and use them as tools to jockey for position with one another- gain dominance and influence with their peers, etc. RikMach (10:31:53 PM): These tend to be highly ritualized, and resistant to change- many of the living with see Ghost Soceity as stagnant or backwards in some aspects, but its intentionally designed that way- as its less a means of distrubuting wants and needs, but more a complex game to sort out a ranking of skills and intellegence. RikMach (10:33:23 PM): Also, because the lack of physical need, many things that are a neccessity for the living are relegated to entertainment- gourmet dining, for example, is considered a high art, and gourmet chefs can reach heights of popularity that are usually reserve to sports or battling superstars for the living. RikMach (10:34:36 PM): On that note, only ghosts can enter the shadow world naturally, but they can take mortals with them- frequently, they're preminant chefs or battlers, who enjoy large ammounts of fame int eh ghsot world (as ghosts love battling jsut as much as any other pokemon- its one of the few things they solidly have in common with the living) RikMach (10:35:06 PM): Also, a note on food- ghosts tend to be very finicky- if you don't need to eat, why would you eat bad food? RikMach (10:35:39 PM): Its like intentionally subjecting yourself to terrible music or bad film. While it might be entertaining for a while to criticize it, its not somethign you want to do allot of. RikMach (10:38:25 PM): Arcdhetexture, except in areas the living are expected to live in or visit extensivelly in, tends to be strange combination of both bizzarre and essoteric artistry, and stark utility- Since they don't really *need* shelter, or places to sleep, they tend to make places they live in visually and spatially entertaining, with small sections devoted to spartan utility for the few things they have need for. RikMach (10:41:09 PM): Ghost, personality-wise, tend towards emotional detactment, and high levels of observational skills on the emotions and reactions of others- having a good poker face and being able to read others very well through them is critical for the social games they play- however, when ghosts *do* decided to become emotionally invested in something, they tend to throw themselves fully into it- Because if they feel its worth the risk to openly feel about something, its worth putting your all into it- otherwise, why bother? this is frequently why the ghosts have the steroetype of being emotionaless, manipulative bastards, or totally manic whackjobs. RikMach (10:41:28 PM): Anything else you need/want to know? DarkheartO1 (10:46:37 PM): Dasgood. RikMach (10:47:30 PM): Of course, that last part only applies to ghosts int eh ghost world- ones int eh living world tend to just have variants of the local culture. RikMach (11:09:54 PM): Also, just not gotten around to making hte Safari Zone entry?
